Allergy season has got it's claws into me in a big way this year. Despite the daily dose of antihistamines, decongestants, nose sprays and eye drops, I have been battling congestion, sneezing and very itchy eyes.
The good news is that this will eventually subside. The bad news is that I am still in the full throws of hayfever hell!
The worse news? I'm sittin up in the cave on my second bowl for the evening, despite not smoking a pipe in a few days, I can't taste the tobacco at all. :-(
Here's to hopin I whup this thing and can get back to enjoyin my pipes and baccy. ;-)

I am so often so thankful that I don't suffer from any allergies....(touch wood).
Get well soon, Dino.

I get those attacks occasionally, about every two years. Almost incapacitated by them, I go to the doctor and get a steroid shot or pills and they clear it up. To prevent them, I take a Zyrtec or Claritin every day, even when I don't have symptoms. The doctor told me to do this.

Dino, The pollen here in NC covers the vehicles on a daily basis. I never suffered from allergies until I moved down South. Iβm allergic to the Bradford Peartree, thank God the two prescriptions Iβm on helps somewhat! But when they are in bloom I need a box of tissues nearby. Hope you feel better real soon ....ππππππππππππ

Sorry to hear that. I'm not sure I would notice since I can't taste tobacco anyway. But for those who do and then can't due to allergies, that must be a bummer. Hope you get your sense back.

Iβm sorry to hear that. When Iβve been congested, I find a cup of hot coffee alleviates it, at least temporarily. Then, I can usually taste the tobacco.

Peppermint tea.Cuts thru phlegm like a knife thru butter.Might try running a dehumidifier in the man cave.Dryer air will cut down on the pollutants.Hoping the best for you Dino.

Damn shame Dino. My wife suffers fiercely from allergies, so I know how you feel.

Thanks all.
After a quick trip up to Buffalo and Syracuse (leaving tomorrow morning), I'll be in AZ for a week. Hopefully that will help things out a bit. I'm bringing a few pipes and a few tins hoping that things get better.

I have sinus/congestion issues most of the year, with a break in a hot summer. Arizona will help. A steam inhaler is very helpful. I alternate Centrizine and Loratadine for sinus and Guaifensin (Mucinex) for congestion.

I'm a true believer in mucinex. I can knock out a cold with that and nyquil in a day or 2.
But...
The other day I got tired of spraying Afrin up my nose so as I was looking down the aisles for a different solution. I grabbed a neti-pot. What a weird feeling that was! For 35 years I have been keeping water out of my nose, now I'm dumping it in there? The first time, I was sure I was going to drown myself while standing there over my sink. After a couple more attempts, I got it figured out. It's been a week of using it now and what a huge difference it has made.

Make sure that you always use distilled water with a Neto-pot or any other nasal irrigation device. www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm316375.htm

I always do. I've read about some nasty stuff from using tap, or well water. No thanks!

Got back home @ 03:30 this morning. Despite spending the better part of the week in AZ, I am still fighting the allergies.
It's gotten better, but still fighting the usual stuff.
Sitting up in the cave tonight and smoking my 2nd bowl. Started off with MM965 in my Dunnie Bent Bulldog. Am now enjoying (as much as I can) a bowl of Our Best Blend in a Bent Billiard.
Taste is probably still only @ about 10% to 15%.
Enjoying my pipes and definitely looking forward to experiencing the full flavor again.

Dino, moving down South now I suffer from allergies. So my heart goes out to you! Only nasal spray that gives me any relief is prescribed by my primary care physician because it has steroids.....it really makes a world of difference. FEEL BETTER
