An episode back on PM radio, Shan Ireland commented that a rare limited release was coming out, as luck would have it, I had delayed listening to the podcast, I searched the site of SP, and the closest thing on the new arrivals was an Alesbury that I wasn’t familiar with.
I emailed Shane, and he told me that the blend in the title of this thread went super fast, but some people backed out after the fact and he could send me a few if I wanted. I passed on the opportunity and thanked him for the generous accommodation.
Has anyone here got it, if so what are your thoughts on it... an improvement on Squadron Leader without Perique?

Charlie, you're in luck. I have a tin and it's open. Remind me, and I'll bring it to Pipe Club in July.
Squadron Leader is my "go to" blend. If I could only have 1 blend: it would be SL because it's my romanticized version of what an English tobacco should be. So, although I enjoy SLAP (Squadron Leader And Perique), I would not say SLAP is an improvement: it's simply different. The perique adds a different mouthfeel during the smoke, and I find that the perique, though adding flavor, mutes some of the flavors I recognize in SL. So, my solution is simple: I smoke both (though not in the same pipe as I do have a pipe dedicated to SL).

Thanks Dan, kind of what I figured.
I will be missing the July meeting, I will be visiting my sister and saying goodbye to her, she contracted ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
The pipe club will be meeting nonetheless, and by weeks end I will be posting at all the usual sites and email distribution list.

Kinda off topic but not quite...
How would you compare squadron leader with early morning pipe?

I think SL has more latakia flavor, and more of the herb/spice oriental background flavor than EMP.
