I wrote my Congressman, Sam Graves, last week and received a reply today in the mail. He is cosponsoring the Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Job Preservation Act. I strongly recommend that everyone contact their Congressman and ask that they support this bill when it reaches the House floor. If the FDA does not rescind their decision this may be our last hope to keep the industry intact.

As a cigar enthusiast and proud CRA member since about day one I'm glad we have Glynn Loope fighting every day for our side but I don't think pipe tobacco has anything to do with this petition and or any bills floating around congress. As we all know most the vast majority of "pipe tobacco" is relabeled RYO cigarette tobacco and an exemption has no chance. I over bought pipe tobacco for over twenty years and have more than a lifetime supply but my cigar humidors are only at three years at best. Our best bet was when Doctor of Pipes Paul Creasy of Altadis/Sutliff was working almost full time in DC on pipe tobacco's behalf but Sutliff was sold off and "Dr" Paul got gone we've been on our own. But in truth it probably didn't make a difference anyway. A large premium hand rolled cigar is easy to classify and loose cut tobacco pretty much all looks alike unless you are a pipe geek like me. This all really sucks but the sky's been falling since I've been active in the hobby over 25 years now and even if they ban mail order I'd be a lot more worried about your health insurance provider than I would be about the the FDA
