I have been smoking GLP Jack Knife. My first impressions was a bit harsh and strong. By the end of the tin I find I quite like it. Briar Fox is still better to me. Jack Knife is now a close 2nd. I am even tempted to open my cellared tin and am planning to get more.

It's great by itself an with age even better. It is also a good mixer to kick things up a bit.

Jack knife is a new one to me, but I agree with the premise...
I've noticed that I can't write off blends after 1 or 2 bowls. I used to, but with some experience, I've noticed blends I didn't like at first being some of my favourite.
Tastes change, so I like to revisit some of the blends that aren't top of the list from time to time.

I too enjoy JackKnife Plug, for me it smokes best when it’s time to open a tin I just let it rest in the tin for about 2 weeks and lift the lid a few times during that period to let it breathe. I find it helps alleviate the harshness, and it’s ready to enjoy. Very similar too ALL the Drew Estate blends I’ve smoked in the past, they needed a breathing period. Still have some Drew Estate blends in the cellar.

JKP is a hardy smoke but I came to enjoy Triple Play even more ... both much better with a few year's age and both classic GLP blends.

When I first tried Peterson 2015 St. Patrick's Day blend I didn't particularly like it. But after about 3 bowls I came to love the stuff. Fortunately they now sell the same blend labeled as Founder's Blend.

... I used to, but with some experience, I've noticed blends I didn't like at first being some of my favourite. I have found this to be my experience as well. Most of my long-time favorite blends took time and experience to earn the top spots in the rotation. And conversely, several blends that I thought were great from the first smoke quickly fell out of favor the more I smoked them.
