After the show, I asked my wife what she thought of the show. She liked it, but was really bored, since I was doing show things, while she was watching TV in our room. Since she doesn't like smoke, asthma and allergies, she could not hang out in the tent.
Next year, we want to have a smoke free area for the wives / girl friends can hang out. This would probably be a conference room. There could be coffee, chairs, puzzles, craft items. This would be a place for sewing, crochet and anything else that women would enjoy, while they talk.
Ask your wives. Would they enjoy something like this? What would they want?

Good point. Maybe call it an alternative tent so as not to assume that all the pipe smokers will be male. Also, some attendees may be accompanied by people other than their SO.
That's semantics though. The point is for a tent of sorts for those who don't care about the pipes.

Tell him about the museum that has the Tsavo lions on display. No man could resist that. Also, the bars are pretty safe and friendly. I love Chicago.

Well I know Chicago pretty good, I’m sure I can hook him up with a friend that will have your husband making Tiffany style lamp shades in no time. Great hobby and another income👌👍

I found the tent pretty overwhelming with the amount of smoke. I may have to join the wives tent.

Just buy your spouses a day package at a local spa! They'll be in such a good mood from being pampered all day that it should be easy to sneak a few pipes by them.

I found out after the fact that at the Las vegas Pipe show they have a shuttle and program for the pipe widows to go do crafts, get pedicures, spa treatment, etc....
It isn't advertised, but if anyone wants to set up their wife for that, give me a holler.

If your husband wants to make pipes, he should sign up for our pipe finishing seminar on Wed & Thur, before the show. There are several expert pipe makers that teach the class. Each student is given a ready drilled pipe kit, then taught how to shape, blast and finish the pipe. Did I forget to mention sand sand sand sand sand sand?

Sounds like a good idea for those who attend with significant others who don’t smoke. For me, it’s a “guy weekend” and don’t even offer my wife to go because she would spend more than I do at the show shopping in Chicago. Selfish? Maybe. Self preservation on household budget? Yes (although in fairness what I spend at the show is money i set aside specifically for it)

You will notice that around most every Cabela's store a bunch of boutiques, craft stores, high end women's clothing and shoes, etc. stuff oriented to capturing the hunter's wife with a credit card, and keeping her busy all day while hubby inspects the new jerky maker.

Used to be the only time you saw a woman fishing was that she was someone's new girlfriend trying to stay connected, perceiving not incorrectly that fishing is a competitor for his attention. Even though there are a few very famous, dare I say legendary, female fishers and fly tiers in the Catskill region.

That is what we did the next two days, lol. I prefer my spin cast rods
