Now there’s an off topic if there ever was one! I am getting new hearing aids on Thursday, my old ones are going off for repair and electronics upgrade. Both of these hearing aids are for a profound hearing loss.
Prior to getting the pair I have currently I was bordering profound in my left ear and moderate in my right ear. I experienced a Neurological episode that left the entire right side of my body without reflexes and unbeknownst at the time had a drastic impact on my right which stopped making the inner ear fluid needed for balance and other things.
So that set of hearing aids had very little use prior to all this happening and I was going through my hearing aid stuff when I found them.
The reason for this post is these are high quality hearing aids made by Phonak of Sweden. They are grey in color and are behind the ear style which realistically is the only style you could offer to someone fo maybe some tobacco. They would cost several thousand dollars each if purchased today but would only cost their new owner whatever the audiologist charges for new ear molds and some tobacco or a bottle of 16-18 y/o Single Malt Scotch.
If you need hearing aids and can’t afford them please let me know, I gave another set I owned that were $7500 and their new owner was pleased how much his quality of life changed. Hopefully I can help someone here as well, regards. Just so everyone knows I had 2 folks interested but the audiologist he contacted about getting them programmed told him they only program aids they sell, 🤬. The other person things just didn’t work out but these are less than 8 months old and have state of the art digital hearing aids. banjo

I was a 19D in the service, suffer from tinnitus now and have been classified disabled as a result; consequently, I can get assistance from the VA. This is such an incredibly generous offer I don't even know where to go? I truly hope this works out well for somebody.

As usual, a wonderful gesture on your part. Your thoughtfulness will be greatly appreciated by the recipient! I was one of the lucky one’s that first met you on another forum, the pleasure was all mine! All the best to you my friend.

That is very generous and thoughtful of you.
Grandpa was just grumbling that he needs new ones and mentioned Miracle Ear wanted $8000. Fortunately he is well off and can comfortably afford them, but it's sad how some people just have to miss out on life- Especially when you know those devices probably cost only a few hundred bucks to produce. I may be wrong, but it seems like anything medical related just takes a laughable price hike.
Hope you are feeling better.
