I live a block away from the San Francisco Bay. The temp is supposed to hit 100 degrees today... this never happened when I was a kid, growing up here... and it's too hot already to smoke a pipe. Bummed!

I have spent lots of time in California, but have not been in that neck of the woods since 1987. I got out the Army at both Treasure Island and OAB, This after serving a year in Korea.

I agree..Thanks Dave! The South Koreans are also indebted to you, surely they woud have been over-run had not good men like yourself gave so freely. As for the bay area, you can get so accustomed to the coolness rolling in halfway through the day that you get spoiled...when it doesn't come... you get a taste of Arizona. It always made me laugh working in the city....tourists would se a sun-shiny morning outside the hotel windows and head out scantily clad. Afternoon they are buying all the Alcatraz/ SF hoodies from the vendors. If you visit SF, it is best to dress in layers. The humidity levels of the bay area generally are not that noticeable when you live there...when I go back to the bay area from the desert, I feel it now though...still a far cry from what people feel east of the continental divide. I ain't ever moving over that mountain range.

I was a few kliks from the DMZ, we did what had to be done and then it was on to the more important activities. Drinking and chasing girls lol! We did spend a lot of time in the field and up by the DMZ.

My Dad probably turned 21 in Korea also when he was there during the Korean war. He said that he found out wearing pantyhose helped keep his legs warm, I asked him if he got them from Corporal klinger...he wasn't amused.

Bummed! Bummer. It's been breaking 100°F here in Denver this past week, but it's dropped today and is currently a pleasant 72.
