I just tried this stuff for the first time. I really liked it on the first go. Mild, and tasty. Thinking I might buy more to cellar. Has anyone aged this stuff? Does it benefit at all from time away?

I have a couple of jars aging. The Virginia’s will become mellow and tasty with age. This blend can be an all day smoke, smokes cool and tasty with no bite👌👍

It's got a comfort edge to it that can easily become a part of one's regular rotation.

I was certainly not blown away when I opened the bag, but upon first smoke, I was a very happy guy. I kept telling my friend, "mmmm. Hmmm. This is good. Just simple and good. Mmmm."

Fresh, I find it to have little tongue tingle, and I find it settles down with age.

We have a couple of stockebye blends here in the uk, but that one seems to be unavailable to us. Shame.

Cramptholomew@lonecoyote Gentlemen, I’ve become curious about this blend recently. It looks like it would make a nice, mellow morning pipe. I’m looking for something to alternate with Amphora Original. Are they similar in any way?

At least that’s how I much prefer the blend. Amphora Original smokes good fresh, smooth and cool if let dry a bit with absolutely no tongue bite.

I got mine fresh from SP, and thought it was mild out of the bag. I haven't tried the Amphora yet, so I can't speak for that.

This Natural Dutch Cavendish sounds good to me too. I'll have to get a few ounces and give it a try.

Ok, but this is a Cavendish which means it is processed with added sugars. So how can it be a good smoke? When I read the description of a blend and I see the word Cavendish I cringe and memories of wet smokes, gurgling pipes come to mind.

Unsweetened black Cavendish for instance.

This is a really light colored tobacco not anything like a black cavendish. This isn't a cheap steamed to hell we need 10k lbs tomorrow blend there is some good tobacco at the base, and it shows in the smoke. This stuff comes fairly dry for any tobacco and smokes well right to the bottom. Please don't discount this one because it has cavendish in the name you'll definitely be missing out.

The tobacco, as I understand it, has been "Cavendished" which is a steaming process. It's no where near goopy, or even topped. There's no sugar in this one. Just straight, mild, naturally sweet tobaccos. The blending, to my tastes, is perfect for a go-to smoke, where you always know what you'll get out of it. I believe Stanhill turned me on to it, on a thread I made asking for suggestions of different things to try. I'm very happy I took his suggestion. I just now fired up a bowl full, and am very pleasantly puffing away. No bite, MAYBE a small tingle (could be imagining it though, since Jiminks put it in my head), but that's it. For a reasonably priced bulk, this stuff is great.
