Is it true that Peter Stokkebye Balkan Supreme is out of production? When did this happen? I've noticed that Arango Balkan Supreme (some say it is the same as PS Balkan Supreme) is out of stock everywhere I've looked. What's going on?

I'm not too sure but I had to hunt down my last order of PS - Proper English. And now everywhere I look is sold out as well.

I'd never heard of Peter Stokkebye Balkan Supreme. But I see it in Tobacco Reviews.com. Is it bulk or in tins?

4Noggins.com has PS Balkan Supreme. PipesandCigars.com has a Balkan Supreme and the description matches Stokkebye's, but it's not specifically identified anywhere. You may want to drop them a line to confirm this is PS Balkan Supreme if you order from them.

PS is out of production. I just received some Arango some weeks ago, and I am guessing they are momentarily out. JimInks rates Arango at 4 of 4 stars. My pick would be PS English Oriental Supreme. I actually think this has some sort of Penzancy Hwang to it. Not saying it's as good, but is in a similar vein and I consume mass quantities Arango may be the same as PS. Several PS blends are the same as Sutliff, even though they are different companies. If there is any difference in the ones I tried, I can't taste it.

Cool find, Les. I failed to look there. I note that Iwan Reis has a Balkan Supreme he calls his own. I have found all of his tobaccos (I've tried six or seven) have a unique taste. I may be getting some of his BS next payday, but that is 3 weeks away.
Again, the PS Enlish-Oriental Supreme has the same ingredients. Maybe in varying amounts, but the price is great

Yep, I agree, the PS English Oriental Supreme is a great tobac. Almost as good as White Knight and cheaper.

I have 2-3 pounds that was jarred in 2015 but I like Arango Balkan Supreme a lot better. Also have 2-3 pounds jarred in 2016 of this blend aging in my stash. AJ

That's too bad. It was a very good Balkan at a good price. It was very popular about ten years ago and I have half a pound in my cellar. I think sales may have dropped off after the Balkan Sobranie 759 match contest held at the Chicagoland Pipe Show in 2011, as people switched to McClelland's Blue Mountain (i.e., Balkan Blue, now also gone) and Hearth and Home's Black House (the winner). I've never tried Black House, but Blue Mountain is very good. I actually prefer PS Balkan Supreme though.

AJ I will admit the Arango is a bit better. I have a couple pounds also, and hope it's not out of production. If it is, i won't sob as much as I did over the original Balkan Sobranie as long as PS EOS and others are around. I'm still lamenting the loss of The old BS 759. IMO, none of the "matches" or clones are nearly as good. Also IMO, White Knight is closest. Blackhouse has something acrid about it that turns me off. My staples are the Arango, PS EOS, C&D Engine 99, Byzantium, Star of the East Flake, with occasional forays into Ten Russians and GLP Odyssey.

Arango bought the exclusive distribution rights and renamed it years ago. I think it was around the time they bought Butera Pipe Tobacco. It's the same stuff made in the same place as it always was. It's probably one of the top renamed shop blend sold.
