I went back to Mack’s shop today. This would be the same place I took Jr. for his killer haul of Frog Morton. Mack wants his shelf space back! I went in and there were still 3 100 gram tins of Rattray’s Red Raparee, Hal O’ the Wind, and Marlin Flake, 2 oz tin of C&D Junkyard Dog, 2 oz Drew Estate Grand Central, and finally a 1.75 of Dunhill Flake Virginia. Now Mac’s retail point was a little higher than an online store, but he gave it to me 50% off and I still got em cheaper than I could have anywhere else. $52 for all of it.

Thats an amazing price for all of that great tobacco.
I know that my local tobacco shop (I won't say who) is a TINY bit overpriced but I just like helping the local dude out. He's sincerely a nice person and has always been there for me for all of my tobacco needs.
His pipes are actually very competitively priced though.... He's got a lot of great meerschaums at very good prices. May need to buy myself a Christmas present (or two..)

He just wants to get rid of the few things he had. Oh by the way each tin is 5 to 7 years old already.

ALL OF THEM!
Seriously, I don't know. We get none of those brands over in the UK except for the Dunhill, and that blend is one I've never tried, so I'm not the one to recommend. But you can't go wrong whichever you choose. I'd just pick one and see where the wind takes you.

Looks like you got a great score. If you don't think 1 or more many not be what you want, you can always trade them for something you do want. Good price too!

THAT’s a WOW if I ever saw one!!! I’d try any one of the 3 Rattray’s blends first. I’m a BIG fan of Rattray’s tobacco’s 👌👍👌👍. Enjoy, especially with aged tobacco’s @ that price.....HIGHWAY ROBBERY....lol

Sorry, I forgot too mention: personally when I smoke ANY of the Drew Estate blends I open the tin and let it breathe. Repeat every 2 or 3 days...a much more complex enjoyable smoke after 3 weeks.

I've been noticing that the tinned Dunhill big 3 blends are shipping in more moist than they used to. I don't know if this is because Lane is adding propylene glycol or what the deal is. I let them air out for a bit.

I had wondered it’s very damp and has a sharp bite to it. It smells like heaven almost like a butterscotch or caramel. Thank you for the advice.

Just burp the tin every other day if possible. ENJOY👍

Having smoked Rattrays blends back in the early '70s when they were still blended by them in Scotland I have to say that today's versions are nowhere near the flavor or smoking qualities that they had back then. They are still good tobaccos just not what they were. JMHO !

I imagine any tobacco company that moved past small batch has suffered similarly.
