Not sure how many check out his old drugstore brand page, but I am drooling again, but not yet biting. I can give a few suggestions for those interested.
Holiday Mixture: Though I would love to try it, I'm not ready to add more stock. The Match is really good and I feel that with the ingredients in the original you can't go wrong, even if the match is different.
Holland Clan: I had a pouch gifted from Brother scrooge . All my smokes with it were very pleasurable. It may be worth the tin
Brindley's Mixture: Waiting to try the Match on this one, but the original is sort of OK. I can't give it big kudos as it may be one where the age affects it negatively. Again, I still smoke it from time to time and have no issues with it. Just an opinion
Heine's Blend: It's not a lot different than the newer versions, save that you can see the Deer Tongue. I wound up mixing mine with similar vintage blends and was the better for it. Ooops, that one is sold.
Hayward is also sold, but: Since it's Bing's Blend I'll mention it for the record, as it's important. The tobacco sticks to the side of the tin, which is not an issue for the tobacco you pull from it. This is my one experience with mold. It did not come this way. I jarred in two new jars. One molded. The other got mixed with some Brindley's and Heine's to make a damned good blend. I did put PG in it. I keep PG around for anything I jar, but use it sparingly.
Bond Street: This tin (style and age) will have a plastic bag in it. On opening it you will get a very decided perfume to it. It's most likely the bourbon, which aged and took over. On opening it, airing it a little it lessened it. It is a very interesting smoke now and one I am glad to have a tin of.
Burgundy: I have three tins of this. Open it up, it's thankfully in a sealed bag, you are pummeled, yes pummeled, with a Burgundy scent, tannin, and fruitiness. It's almost a little too much by itself. I love it very much, so if I am not in the mood for full strength, I blend it down with something or add it to English. This is similar to VIP in that you could almost smoke Hickory Match and get the same feeling and taste. This is NOT like Mulled wine or other wine blends, so this may be right up your alley. It is one I would not mind adding to what I already have.
Velvet: Last one for the day. I have three different generations of this blend. The modern can rip your throat up if you are not prepared for it. One of the older ones is milder. Due to age? I don't know. I do mix it with the more modern one. One of the other generations (I will try to reply later) is a very muted flavor. It's certainly not bad. It may be I used the wrong pipe or any number of issues. Both Vintages were clean in the can, no sticking, etc. I could consider buying more, but I have so much between Vintage and Modern that I am at a standstill on this for a while
