Amazed that you saw all of those. I would have preferred to see Topol, as I was used to his voice from the movie. Used to watch Bernardi in the show Arnie. First person I knew of in the Hollywood Blacklist. Larry Parks was the second. Love Mostel, but am a little less impressed by his Tevye. The biggest was the Andrews Sisters. I'm 61 and how many people my age can say they saw them. Close to zero that are ten years younger saw them. And those nights under the stars were like a dream now. Back then just cool. BTW, I can probably sing all the songs from Fiddler and 80 percent of the songs from Brigadoon, verbatim

That was done purposely to “ Bernardi “ because he was Jewish.....no other reason, and that I know for a fact. Can’t go any further on here due to the fact NO religion or politics shall be discussed. With that I also agree and won’t take my statement any further. I too remember him in Arnie, good actor 👌👍

David, PS I have great difficulty sleeping, so maybe one night I’ll call you, while on speaker phone you can sing all the songs in order to me from Fiddler on the Roof, might help....but can it hurt?? 😆
Living on Long Island for so many years gave me the opportunity to visit NYC when I had the time. Often I would stand on line for what’s known as the “ two fer’s “, that’s 2 Broadway tickets for the price of one, which were at times even discounted. The theaters did not want empty seats no matter what the cost was! Two other excellent Broadway shows I had the privilege too see was Best Little Whore House in Texas and Catskills on Broadway......which was so funny I could have wet my pants!!! I must have seen over 100 Broadway and off Broadway shows in my lifetime, no complaints here for sure!
Now just imagine....close your eyes for a second.....your waiting in a theater for two of your favorite comedians to come out on stage and preform their act.....well of course both appeared separately to introduce themselves and then the rest of their routine was together....now I’ll tell you their names and you can just imagine how “ down and dirty “ it got in the house. The two were none other than Don Rickles and Redd Foxx, they literally “ tore down the house “, it’s a night I’ll never forget.....it was a FIVE STAR PERFORMANCE👍👍👍👍👍

I got a juiced up gypsy over here, 3 winos in heat flashing the store mannequins, and some old man from Utah waiting for his duck to die. I gave them all a cookie and sent them home

My other fave comedian is Richard Jeni. I loved Red Foxx for all the friends from Saint Louis he gave jobs to.
Sounds really neat to be able to see the plays on Broadway, where they say the neon lights are bright on...
As to my singing, don't wish too hard. I do a good job with Rich Man and To Life. And on occasion am known to put on a Habit and sing "The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music" while dancing up and down the streets on a hot night.

Definitely a Rickles routine, and a good one at that.
Rickles walked out on stage and leaned over to 3 black people sitting in the front row and said.” How the F—k did you get front row seats and your still eating ribs and melon, you must be related too Redd “! Foxx came out and yelled “ any of you old and ugly f—king white people that “ don’t care for my f—king language, I suggest you get up off your f—king seat and get the f—k out of here, most of you f—king white people are butt f—king ugly anyway!!! Actually, one person was insulted and left. Hey, they paid good money to see Rickles and Foxx on stage at the same time.....did he/she expect choir practice....lmao!!!
Someone behind me was laughing so hard he kept farting.....and did Rickles and Foxx have a field day with him! I think this guy finally $hit himself....he finally left for a few minutes, I believe to check his draws.
At the end of the show Rickles and Foxx gave each other a hug and kiss on the cheek. Made a statement to the audience, “ this was all in good dirty fun, neither one of us are bigots and we all need love and respect each other no matter one’s race or religion “. They received a double standing applause and you could tell they did not want to leave the stage.

Glenn isn't a gateway drug for me. Although starting with the basics of big band did lead me on to other interesting things, like Western Swing.

My Dad was a Big Band fan, not so much for me....even as an ex drummer I never enjoyed listening to it other than when my Dad had it playing. Give me classic rock any day or even Jazz! Also many of the old Disco songs that had heavy bass and percussion 👌👍 I was never into Rap or Hip Hop! I hear you... But what is funny is for many decades 1920s-1940s big band WAS JAZZ! It just dominated the genre! In a lot of ways, Jimmie Hendrix played jazz. I see a direct line from Brubec to Iron Butterfly.

@lonecoyote, I too saw the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, but it wasn't on Broadway, and I had to wait in the car while my older brother went in. I actually did see the Broadway production in Houston years later.
