I've had a couple of BC Capitans. Good quality pipes, you won't be disappointed.

I like the style/shape, the toughest part will be repairing the stem if that’s I hole I see??? Once that pipe is restored I’m sure it will be a great smoker for you. Enjoy for many happy and healthy years👌👍

Enjoy for many happy and healthy years👌👍 No hole, just a spot. I just finished cleaning the stem with baking soda. Cleaned out the inside of the shank. Working on the inside of the bowl later today. The hardest part will be the build up on the rim.

Well the rim was easy. Just finished wiping all the carbon build-up off. Now to clear all the crud out of the innards.

Take your time and you’ll end up with a beauty. Are you going to dye and polish the briar. I use White Diamond & the bar Carnauba Wax on my buffing wheels..sometimes looks better then new!

I may just buff and then wax. If it is too light at that point, I will need to pick up some dye, I usually hand wax and hand buff the wood and save the wheel for the vulcanite.

I have on BC pipe that looked to be in about the same shape when I got it, it is now a great pipe that is in the regular rotation.
Looking forward to seeing the cleaned up pipe.

BC has always made good pipes and most of the older ones were made from Algerian briar. A very under appreciated marque ! Let us see some pics when you get 'er all cleaned up !

Spent a while reaming the bowl last night. Took it back almost to the wood, but not all the way. The reaming tools I use give me a lot of tactile feedback. I find it pretty easy to ream the cake out to just before I start hitting the briar. You can hear and feel the difference between cake and briar. I don't do too much without dumping carbon and re-inspecting. There was so much buildup in the airway though. I used vodka, pipe cleaners and q-tips for cleaning the tar out. I am ordering a retort to speed this part of the process up. I will buff the vulcanite today. Pictures when I am done.

Retort is good. Shank brush and bristle pipe cleaners are also very helpful to scrub away the crud prior to the retort and final swabbing.
I'm along with everyone else...looking forward to the finished pipe.

For some unknown reason I’ve never smoked a BC pipe. Probably missed out on a great experience. Looking forward to seeing pictures after you’ve finished restoring it and reading about its smoking qualities.

AJ, the one Don is restoring is made from Algerian briar 👌👍. As were all of the early BC pipes, fairly inexpensive and outstanding smoking pipes👌👍
