For quite some time now I have been an avid Rocky Patel fan. defended his cigars, praise to Cigars, recommended his cigars and even gifted his cigars. But I have to say now I am done I have bought no less than 25 Rocky Patel's in the last 2 months and have had problems with at least 75% of them. They have swollen up in the middle, they have split at the foot, they have split at the head or the cap comes off and unravels, they have tunneled and they have run up the side unmercifully. I'm done I'm not wasting any more money or buying any more Rocky Patel cigars. It's kind of a shame I do enjoy the flavor of his Sumatra. That's it I'm off my soapbox now thank you for listening.

It’s good to vent. You’ll sleep better tonight and your blood pressure will return to normal safe levels. Shoddy workmanship should be exposed and you’ve done your fellow cigar smoker a great service. Carry on...

I've smoked cigars for 30 years and know my cigars. I never liked Rocky Patel cigars of which I only bought one. Rocky is an attorney and businessman and a damn good businessman. He's not a cigar maven by any means. Basically, he goes to Nicaragua, contracts with one of the many factories, puts his name on it and brings them in. That's a Rocky Patel cigar. His cost is about a buck or so a cigar.
He's no Arturo Fuente or Padron much less any genuine cuban's.
There are so many new cigars out there that I steer clear of all of them. It's all hype and business to garner your hard earned dollars.

I remember around 2001 when Phat Ash cigars was selling his bundles called "Chief Specials" (I believe they were called. Correct me if I'm wrong) for about $29.95 for 25 toro's. These were hellacious tasting, flavor bomb cigars. Then suddenly, they disappeared from the market. Later, the 1990 series appeared, and I lost interest. That is, until the ITC 10th anniversary appeared. Another dynamite blend in robusto. That disappeared for sometime, and then reappeared later down the road. The second appearance of the ITC was disappointing. Basically, I think that Rocky simply over-expanded into losing a customer base (IMO).
Don Pepin was another one (I feel) who over-expanded into way too many blends. I think if he would of concentrated on his El Ray de Los Habanos and Blue Label line, he would of been fine (again, IMO)...

Go ahead and vent...let one rip....if you buy Rocky Patel by the box your lucky if you get 5 that burn properly. The only Rocky Patel I’d ever smoke now is the Sumatra. One at a time, so I get to feel how the cigar was rolled and packed.

I never cared for them. I smoke a box of Camacho Corojo toro's a week plus a few others. Ther are so many choices that you never run put of opportunities to find something else you'll enjoy. Good luck with your new search.

Once upon a time, I smoked a lot of RPs and really liked the whole line. But, my tastes changed, and I haven't smoked one in years. Lots of great cigars out there now, and some of these smaller guys (e.g., Roma Craft) are doing some great things.

My local B&M is a RP sponsored store. They're ok.

Recommendation, try either the Fernando or Guillermo Leon. One has a silver band the other one has a gold band you can get them in perreo and torpedo Style. Excellent excellent smokes

I don't smoke many cigars these days, but keep a well stocked humidor. My favorite go-to cigars are Fuente 8-5-8 and the 5 Vegas line from CI. 5 Vegas is reasonably priced, flavorful, and well made. If you haven't tried them, give them a shot... you won't be disappointed.

858's are a good cigar and I smoked my fair share of them at $1.25 to 1.75 a stick. At $4-$5, no thanks. I'm spoiled. For roughly $10 a stick I can smoke virtually almost any Cuban including Monte #2, RASS and a host of others. When I step it up to $15-$20, I'm smoking Esplensido's and Siglo's. No comparison a fine aged Cuban to a Dominican or Nicaraguan. IMHOOC 😎

That is a short rant for someone from Florida. I have heard them complain for an entire 14 day cruise.

Never really cared for RP's either. I'm rolling my own cigars now and for around $2 a stick I can have a $15 smoke. Edit: LOL Ron!

A few years ago I purchased 2 boxes from Mike’s Cigars off his CRAZY PAGES. Purchase one single today they are $5.00 plus. I enjoy the 858 Maduro 👌👍
