Autumn Evening was the one I tried to purchase from USA and it got stuck in customs with a £250 fee. I've heard good things about it.

When a few facts are taken into consideration, I think we can safely say it is a Virgina blend of sorts.
It is referred to as the Shire's finest baccy. Tolkien loved Virginia tobacco. Known to have been a big fan of Capstan.
Tolkien sees himself as a hobbit... Which is another way of saying Hobbits are in large based off Tolkien himself.
The defense rests hahaha

My vote is tobacco.
Tolkien didn't call it tobacco as it is Native American word and he didn't feel it fit in with the book's languages. He was a strange guy like that and languages were a very important part of his universe. 'Weed' was used as it was seen as a weed by most who didn't smoke in their world- It was not widely cultivated like other crops. Another strong point is that nearly 90 years ago, weed wasn't yet a colloquialism for marijuana in England. And I am sure it counts for something that Tolkien was probably not a pot smoker. Marijuana didn't come into fashion as a recreational drug in Merry Ol' England until the 60s.
