Has anyone tried 2 different blends in the 1 pipe? Eg. Bottom half an aromatic and top half English, or maybe 2 different aromatics?
There's probably a good reason not to do it, but I'm curious as to what it's like.
Anyone?

A few weeks back I had about 1/3 of a bowl of Billy Budd and 1/3 Red Odessa. Dropped in the Billy Budd first then topped with Red Odessa. Interesting and enjoyable smoke to the end, more so when the two blends met in the middle. Far from the first time I’ve done that.

It will work providing you choose the right blends. I like ERRMatch over SWR.

As much as I love my Gawith Hoggarths Brown Irish by itself, (which is just pure Virginia, I am not sure it counts as a blend, really) I often rub it down into tiny slices, and mix it with some of my other tobaccos, just to give them the extra kick of sweetness and nicotine they often require.

I've done it a few times when I had half a bowl of something left. I agree with what others have said - if you have a complementary combination it can be great. But you probably don't want to be putting CB Grape on top of Penzance.

I tried it once with 'Exotic Passion' at the bottom and Blue Capstan on top. Like a main course and dessert in one fell swoop. |
