Good afternoon all,
I’m trying to find out when these blends will be available. I’ve reached out to Mac Baren, but they’ve yet to respond. Has anyone heard anything?
Thanks,

On Three Nuns, you can place an order on P&C as it shows backordered. But, my understanding is that Green/Yellow will be available shortly after this weekend's tobacco convention.

I talked to one of the gents at Big Sticks, he said that Paul Busa (the proprietor of said place) is cutting deals with the big shots at the ICPCR this weekend. It will probably take 3 weeks or so to get the stuff shipped, and a week to get the shelves stocked. Hopefully coinciding with our next meeting. Regardless, I will stop in weekly, cool off during the heat of the day, and keep an eye out on new arrivals on the shelves. I am interested to hear what he says about where Dunhill is headed, if indeed there is anything public. If anything special hits the shelves I will send out an email blast to the pipe club members.
Paul is religious about his weekends off, but it is high time he visits with us, he is very knowlegeable on all things pipes and pipe tobaccos even though he is primarily a cigar smoker. Visiting the club meeting would go a long way towards shoring up support between us towards him, and him towards us.

I'm looking forward to trying the two nuns and I also look forward to Mac Baren's 'Burley Flake' being available here in the source country. According to The Danish Pipe Shop, it'll be available some time in the autumn; they gave me a sample, it tasted very good, but I must confess that I like Solani's 'Aged Burley Flake' better.

Jesper.......I agree, Solani ABF is far superior. I only purchased 2 tins and a friend just gifted me another. After I opened one of my tins I was disappointed, maybe because of all the hype prior to it’s release here in the USA. I ended up making a blend mixed with ODF, now an enjoyable smoke. Nope, won’t be buying more!

I think it's a matter of personal preference regarding whether Solani ABF is superior to HH Burley Flake. If you need more punch, then, yeah, ABF is a better choice for you. But, if you want a milder smoke, HH BF is likely a better smoke for that person. I like them both for different reasons, and like my tobacco reviews, rate them against others in the sub-section of their strength categories.
You guys like stronger blends most of the time, so I can see why you don't get enough from HH BF. I need constant change, so both suit me at different times.

The problem is that it's not available in Denmark, so I'll have to buy it from Germany and I only do that a couple of times a year. Hopefully, 'Burley Flake' will be available here comes autumn and it'll make a smokeable substitute, I'm sure.

I found the HH Burley Flake to be weak, airy, sharply sour, and with no flavor whatsoever resembling tobacco. By comparison, Solani ABF exemplifies the difference between an old musty damp rag and the restful pleasure of freshly washed bed sheets and blanket. But I digress... this is a thread regarding Three Nuns Red and Yellow and HH Balkan, each of which I've not yet sampled, but for the Nuns Red (most recent version).

I received this email this from Per Georg Jensen this morning:
Dear Sam,
Thank you for your interest in the new blends from Mac Baren. At this moment Sutliff Tobacco (our distributer in US) is in Las Vegas where the 3 new blends are introduced to the smoke shops. Once they return the tobacco will be shipped out, so I think you should be able to smoke the new ones in maximum 10 days from now.

He sent me basically the same... back from my trip, running hard:
Three Nuns Green and Yellow as well as the Balkan Blend will be introduced to the smoke shops within a week from now. Then it just a matter of time before the tins are shipped from Sutliff to the smoke shops. Concerning HH Balkan Blend it is the same tobacco as HH Vintage Latakia, however we got a problem with the name in the US so I had to rename it. Thanks for your question 🙂

Wow, thanks for the update Charlie. I was excited to try Balkan Blend but it's only a simple rebranding. Good to know.
