Just looked at the forecast for my town for the next week. I can't wait for autumn.

Look out. The forecast is for an extended heat wave for both of us for the next couple of weeks. I was just in your neighborhood (Tyler) this weekend and I thought I might not make it. Getting up at sunrise tomorrow to fix the lawnmower, but I might not live to finish it.
On a positive note, the mosquitoes seem to be dying off. I am otherwise staying in my 64 degree home for the duration.

No kidding; I'd say 106° qualifies. My A/C can reduce the temperature by twenty degrees and that's it. 100° outside means 80° inside, with the poor A/C puffing away. It was new maybe five years ago, too. 87° at midnight??

I've seen temperatures as high as 108 degrees during the day and 89 degrees at midnight. I think that heat wave lasted 4-5 days. It can get miserable where we live. Just pray we don't get 75+% humidity if we get hit with that heat wave. AJ

Not even close to the 116 degrees in Libya, that’s for darn sure!

I bought a game on eBay from a woman in Barrow, Alaska (northernmost US town). We had a fun conversation. I asked if it was cold and she said 'No, it's only twenty below. This time last winter it was fifty below; now that was cold!'
Whaling season had just started and they were cutting up whales on the ice; she said they were stinky.

We're actually getting a break from the heat this week. Mid to high 80s for highs, mid to low 70s for lows. Humidity is high during the day and it slaps you in the face when you walk out, but it's perfect smoking weather outside right now. 77, clear skys, very very light breeze. It's odd that it's not 100+ here in mid July.

Ideal outside temperature for me is about 50° - even 77° is way too hot
It's cold. [puts on coat] Not cold.
It's hot. [takes off coat] Still hot.

When it’s cold you can wear all thermal clothing and stay very comfortable up to 20 below easy. If it’s hot even walking around neked won’t help.......you’ll just burn faster!

Oh dont get me wrong, I LOVE cold weather. This is just the coolest it's been here in a long time. Our spring lasted a total of a week, but spread over 3 weeks. It went from cold to hot in no time.
Our days are coming. When people talk about south Georgia's summer, I have NEVER heard them say "the heat and humidity is just lovely!"
I spent my work day in a small attic spreading insulation. Went up dry, came down soaked.
The US is hot all over, water, water, water...

Amazing! I'm going to bookmark this page and save it for January when everyone is complaining about the snow storms and freezing rain. 😂

You won't see me complaining about freezing rain and snowstorms - I love that stuff When Galveston would get it's half inch of snow, all the schools, banks and shops would close, all the cars would crash, and all the adults were outside trying to scrape together little midget snowmen.

Previous homes in the sun couldn't be cooled more than 20 degrees.

Heated up to 78 today, the it rained and has been for some hours. About the mid 60s now... Yawn.
You Texas boys have all my sympathy.....
OK, we paid dearly for this interlude- high 90s and 7 percent humidity at 7,778 feet is not fun.
The scorch will return here.

Just found that out from a quote in her book. Weather has been miserable here, though not as high as that. I remember the Summer of 80, where the temp didn't dip below 100 degrees at midnight for two weeks. The hawkers were selling Tee's with "So, who's afraid of Hell? I spent the Summer of 80 in Saint Louis." Should have bought one. Sure to be a collectible.

Any of you Texas boys remember the summer of '81 when we went 60 days straight of temps over 102? Had a break of some days of the high 90's then back to the 100+ days for another 10 days! Supposedly was the hottest summer on record !

Yes, I remember that summer. I was in High School about 25 miles south of Fort Worth, so young and tolerated it better than I could now.

Our 'heat wave' of around 75f has subsided. We're back to more manageable temperatures and rain again.
I couldn't cope with that heat.

Rain, rain, rain.......that’s all it did in the U.K. whenever I had the pleasure ( except for one time I had a nasty cabby, I refused to take his 15 minute tour of London, to this day I can here him mumble “ f—king bloody Yank “! At the end I paid my fare, he had the “ unes “ to say “ what, no tip “! I said sure...” plant your corn 🌽 early “! ) The last decent Summer in the U.K. was back in ‘76 as I was told by a Brit enjoying a pipe at a local B&M in London.

Supposedly was the hottest summer on record ! I remember it. Luckily I was working in a darkroom on the 4th floor of a 10 story building. I did have to re-light the boilers every evening at 8 pm for the AC because they automatically shut down. I remember a summer in the early 60's that the temp was 106 to 111 every day for a week in Houston. That's when I did the egg frying thing. Mom bought a second window AC that year. Before '61 we just had an attic fan.

Famous for it's roses and beautiful women. Just don't visit in June, July, or August.
