Desalination is rather expensive; however, it's the only way I can see the West keeping up with growth long term. I don't know why we can't pump water from the great lakes to the west. We don't have a water problem in the world...we have a salt problem.

Great question which I'm totally unqualified to answer. If pumping water from the East is more cost effective, I would think the Mississippi River might be a better alternative? Pumping water from the Great Lakes may have a detrimental effect on those ecosystems? Not so much from the Mississippi River and it could also be a win/win in terms of reducing flooding the region.

That has been discussed many times out here. I suspect the elevation gain requires too much energy given what people will pay for water in high volume. We may see that day yet.

I don't know why we can't pump water from the great lakes to the west. We don't have a water problem in the world...we have a salt problem. Salt problem you say!!! When I lived in Malta the first year I grew many tomato plants on the back terrace. Those tomatoes looked big, red and scrumptious. The first one I picked my mouth watered. Nothing like a fresh home grown tomato right....that’s another wrong! Upon cutting this beauty in half the first thing I noticed was the inside of the tomato was white, I’ve never seen this prior. I decided to give the tomato a sniff...smelled like a cross between sulphur & sodium phosphate. What I did was water the plants with water from the back faucet which was filtered reverse-osmosis water from the Mediterranean Sea. I grew some of the most beautiful non-eatable red monster tomatoes that could get you ill or even kill if you had weak kidneys or a heart condition. I was later told, “ if you want to grow your own vegetables use bottle water or the storage water that’s in your tank on the roof of your home “! You guessed it, every other month I had 650 gallons of water delivered by what we call a water tanker truck, in Europe it’s called a Bowser.....WTF, a Bowser😜😂.....and the Brits say we “ Yanks “ don’t speak proper English. The roof tank water was for drinking or cooking only. The reverse-osmosis water was suppose to be used for flushing toilets, washing your hands, dishes, showering, well that worked out like another WTF nightmare! I finally had an extremely expensive water purification filter system installed for my home, so we could take sodium free showers....👍👍👍 We who have the pleasure/privileged of living in North America take for granted, just turn on the faucet, maybe use a cheap Brita filter for drinking water and the ability to turn on a faucet and take a clean shower. Okay, some areas need water softeners installed but it’s a hell of a lot cheaper then how I lived overseas! Every time I left the States or returned I always kissed the ground I walked on, thankful for living in this great Nation, and thank God I was born here!

Do you miss living in Malta? There were some GREAT times and some very sad times! Overall, I had the pleasure of meeting people throughout Europe who were for the most part wonderful, warm, caring people living a much slower lifestyle than I was accustom to, took time for me too also adjust. I still keep in touch with a few good friends from overseas and one day would definitely enjoy visiting.

This could be another line of business for Texas. We could build deep tanks to collect the excess rain water and sell it to the highest bidder. Some years we have droughts, but even then we sometimes have days when we get more rain than we can use before it runs off. We already have pipelines to every part of the country.

I don't watch football. Maybe the World Series if a certain team makes it. Besides, October is the start of the Texas motorcycle season.

It was 104 here in NWA yesterday and I was outside pressure washing because we sold one of the houses in Centerton Arkansas. We didn't get the asking price but we did get upwards of 300k. so thats good just 1 left out there now and im sure it will sell within a few weeks.

Yeh... it's still hot. The app has some better captions, but I didnt think some of you would find them appropriate. For once I used my better judgement.

Here in NC we’ve had heavy rain and thunder during early morning hours. My daughters A/C was hit by lightning last Saturday. Her insurance company wanted to send their own “ guy, “ wish I was their at the time.....this guy must have been a road scholar at one time....because everything he did he fell in the road...lol. First he notices....”ah ha “ the thermostat melted “, that would tell me...go outside and remove the cover of the A/C unit and check for any further damage. This “ road scholar “ said to my daughter....” just seems to be the thermostat, you’ll have A/C shortly. So, this knucklehead goes out to his truck and tells my daughter “ I’m going to give you a much more expensive thermostat that will not cost you a dime out of your pocket. My daughter watched him install the new thermostat, as soon as he lowered the thermostat and connection was made.....a LOUD BOOM....the new thermostat blew up in his face. This road scholar tells my daughter “ guess I have to also check outside “! Ends up once he removed the cover my daughter said it looked like the entire unit was on fire at one point. My daughter was told an adjuster will be stopping by in a day or two, well 8 days later still no insurance adjuster, but she’s being told...” your on the short list “! I think all of us old geezers fully understands what that phrase means. My daughter asked me and my only “ clean “ response was “ it means to grab and hold onto your ankles “!!! As I was laughing, for I was not about too also explain to my daughter what was meant by “ the short list”! She will be learning soon enough 😂😂😂

Yes Charlie, it will be in the three digits for high temperatures for a week, though the heat you have is dry heat. I think next week it’s safe for me to say “ don’t carry your concealed piece, better heads must prevail “!!!😜😜😂

Holy smokes guys. It's not letting up for you. It's the same in parts of Europe.
Portugal was 122f during the week which I can't even imagine.
Here in sunny Ireland we've a scorching 60f tomorrow. I'll send some of my cool air your way.

I'll take some extra +s in the temperature if you take 20-25% of my humidity. This trade is open to all. There's nothing quite like sweating while sitting in a chair, under a tree, breathing.
Ireland is looking mighty fine.

Southern Humidity: 100% . . . .step out of the shower and it's like you never left the stall. Genuine empathy for those of you who deal with that.
