For $50 on eBay. I'm kicking myself. But, I just couldn't justify it with the amount of tobacco I've purchased this month. Ive REALLY wanted a good poker, too. Hopefully, there will be another such find sooner or later. I said to myself, "there will be others", crying on the inside.

That's always a bad feeling. I lost 2 a couple weeks ago because I set my limit due to Cult/Bulk/Churchwarden purchase.

I can relate and sympathize with you. I’ve allowed good deals slip by me and have regretted it for years. However there’s always deals to be had. Keep watching and I’m sure something you like will be available soon.

Honestly and truthfully if I can't afford something it doesn't matter if it's a dollar if I have $0.95 it's not a good deal if I put myself out having said that I often overextending myself ha ha ha ha ha ha

But I make myself feel better by saying if I need the money I'll just turn in one of jars of change. So far I havent had to do that. I work in construction/remodeling, so I call my change my retirement fund.

I COULD have afforded it, but then it would've required a discussion with the wife. "What's this $70 eBay purchase? Is it another pipe? What about all these tobacco packages that just arrived? Why do you NEED another pipe?", etc., etc. Could be worse, but I figured I've gotten away with the tobacco this month, so I'm not going to press it.

And that is why my next order will my last for a while as the wife is already giving me that look with the words, “You just started this thing and you already have three cases of pint jars full of tobacco and over ten pipes. How much more do you need?!” Asking her how many shoe’s does she needs was NOT the right response.

On the other hand, you have bought a lot of tobacco this month and as you'll need pipes to smoke it in, it'd have justified the purchase. Off to eBay..!

These discussions are the exact reason, why it's a good idea to have your own account and a budget account to which you each transfer a fixed, monthly amount for rent and other necessary stuff.
What's left in your account, is your 'allowance' and you can spend it any way you see fit. In my case, pipes, tobaccos and books. Works like a charm, unless you've spent your monthly 'allowance' during the first week and have to borrow from the mutual account, then all hell breaks loose.

My wife spends money on 'her things' (like expensive soap and moisturiser etc.) and so when I buy tobacco I just take it as 'my thing'. Evens out in the end. Actually it nowhere near evens out cos i only buy 1 tin a month, but it keeps the eyes from rolling.

I looked at the listing. It was a deal and why I use a BIN price on the pipes I sell. I miss being able to research bidders but I have a feeling the winners max bid was way over $51 dollars. You never know when the next great pipe will appear. I got squishy on a pipe I wanted last month and a couple of days later a must have at any price pipe showed up and I was happy I passed on the other piece.

but I have a feeling the winners max bid was way over $51 dollars. I thought about that too, since the bid jumped like $20 between the last bidder and the person who won. My birthday is coming up soon, so I might just hold out for a Dagner poker. We'll see.

Keep your eyes open on eBay, there are plenty of good deals on pipes....good luck👍 I know. But, that's two so far that I've given up, so I'm starting to regret my decisions. The first was an Abe Herbaugh that I gave up for $35... Ugh. That one I REALLY regret.

You’d be surprised by how many I won using that method. If I lost I felt good because I knew for me it was not worth more. It’s a darn shame you lost out on that Abe Herbaugh. Was the sold price much higher then your maximum bid?

I was PISSED!

Especially those days when I smoke over 1 1/2 .oz per day. JimInks or AJ understands how fast tobacco’s burn...lol. It’s far from a cheap hobby, but still one of my favorite hobbies!!! Like Peterd states “ it’s a way of life “!

I just make sure I'm not spending more on my pipe stuff than she does on Amazon.

The only time I ever bid on eBay, was on an original Oom Paul brought back from the Boer War in 1902; The starting bid was next to nothing and I put my max bid at £50. The pipe went for £54.

I assume my phone app was somehow behind by a couple seconds or something. I bid up at the last second, had a happy face, and then sad face.
