Jesper, you couldn’t ask for a better deal on a ‘50 Dunhill, great friend you have👌👍 But is it one of your better smokers? I would think not?!?!?!

I bought this Dunhill from a pipe-dealer pipe friend of mine for $25, because he wasn't quite happy with it; as you don't look an almost gift pipe in the shank, I didn't inspect it closely until he'd left and it turned out to be a birth year (1950) pipe. A pretty good deal, I'd say; at least I'm happy with it.
you lucked out there big time! I've bought a good deal of pipes from him along the way, hence the bargain price and it wasn't the only pipe I bought that day, when he came visiting. He once sold me a Stanwell no. 113 for a cigarette I had lying about; I later mailed him and wrote that I had a couple more cigarettes, if he was interested, but he never replied.

So, it’s one of your better smoking pipes? I smoke 2 of my grandfather’s Dunhill Pipes on special occasions, I wouldn’t say they are in my top 20 best smokers. But, for me the sentimental value means so much more.

I didn't write that; I was just curious as to why you'd assume that it wasn't one of my best smokers, is all. In fact I have four Dunhills; the others 1967, 1972 and 1975, and none of them are any better or worse than any of my other pipes. I must have been lucky, as there are none of my pipes, I'd consider a bad smoker.

I've never been taken with the idea of a birth year pipe. It would make more sense to me, to buy a pipe that commemorated the year you started smoking a pipe seriously.

Already have a number of pipes from ‘68, my first year of enjoying a pipe. I also have a few pipes that were made durin my birth year of 1951. Was just looking around for the right priced Dunhill, if I don’t find one I’m fine as well. Better then looking around for my “ death year “, kind of morbid.......or not🤪😝😜
