This afternoon the wife and I watched live feed of my Grandsons ball game in Cooperstown, they got mauled, I texted him and said don't worry about the score, you compete and that's the thing, those that don't compete have no say. What wonders in this modern world, but then I was born in 43, no cell, microwave, no tv for us we were poor. Now it's everything is at your door.

That is a pretty cool that he made it there, a great memory for him to cherish, and the skills he is learning on teamwork will serve him well going forward.

What wonders in this modern world, but then I was born in 43, no cell, microwave, no tv for us we were poor. Now it's everything is at your door. We had it better in some ways. Today's kids are pressured to "Win". Winning is what the game is about. For us oldtimers, the game was the thing. The competition, the organization of the team, participation with that team. Winning was good but not what the game was about. Today's kids seem to have parents who get a vicarious thrill out of their kid's victory. We had no gadgets when I was small. We made our own fun. If you wanted to know something, there was the library- no Google. My dad and I built a Crystal Radio and how I loved that thing. Later we built a tube radio. I kept stuck to that AM band every night. That was how I ventured out into an unknown world and learned what was going on. Kids today are saturated and overstimulated by the all the different media flooding them. Of course, old people like me have been saying youth are overstimulated for a long time.

Iโm up to date with technology but ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Iโm old school and definitely agree with the statement above me! Way to many social media websites corrupting young minds, itโs also โ the parents โ that let their children at the young age of 13 to 15 join such websites! Whatโs needed is more parental control, I see it with my own eyes what goes on in todayโs society!

In some ways we are blessed with technology, in others ways it consumes to much of our time. Your grandson did well to get there, it is beautiful small town America in Cooperstown. I visited when I live in Massachusetts.

Sorry he got mauled. I'm sure the experience was something special for him. And in this day, where 'everyone's a winner', the experience of losing will be valuable and character-shaping.

Grandsons team lost the first 2 games, they won today 10/11, Grandson hit 2 home runs and the last inning they intentionally walked him. Win or lose I'm proud of him.
