I have always been interested in the Butcher's Boy line. Might just get one someday. Prefer straights or slightly bents only.

I have a Rattray Highland. It takes a 9mm filter, which I do not use. Consequently there are dark spots on the shank from the smoke absorption. It's a nice pipe but they have gotten quite pricy. For me, there are better pipes in that price range and even a number of new artisan pipes can be had for the money.

For me, there are better pipes in that price range and even a number of new artisan pipes can be had for the money. Rattrays have a Scottish heritage going back over a Century, and I was very pleased to acquire at least one of their quality range , but an expensive purchase on my budget, my favourite pipe, but more for the St. Andrews golf club set, perhaps. I am after another Peterson for my collection next. On my pension, I cannot buy a new pipe regularly. But I have a pipe dream of my perfect Dunhill pipe. I prefer the classic , traditional British pipes & old style global folk pipes, rather than artisan pipes. But I respect the craft and skill of individual artisan pipe makers, but I would rather be an artisan pipe maker, than buy their pipes, if I were younger though, in the same way I would rather be a sporty ball player than watch and follow the games. I enjoy browsing the websites of worldwide artisan pipe makers and learning from their individual styles and the pipe lore they share. I am very pleased with my new falcon , with the international stem & light hunter bowl & dark billiard bowl. There is such variety to the hobby that all tastes are catered for.
