The ordor is most likely from the oils in the tobacco and they have been absorbed by the wood and cardboard. Totally removing the odor may result in the destruction of the cardboard and possibly the wood. Maybe the box could be Ozone treated. Get in touch with Walker Pipe Repair and talk to a Mike about it. He uses an Ozone chamber to remove unwanted odors from pipes. Depending on the size of your box he might be your best choice.

I've no idea how to remove it, but then again, I wouldn't want to. I love the smell.

If the odor is in just the box, dispose the box and keep the pipe in a pipe sock for protection. Works every time. Good luck👍
Why keep a cardboard box??? If it’s a wood box I can see why you’d want to keep it.

With cat pee! That will surely override any foul tobacco odor....lol. But I’ve heard some pipe smokers while reading threads had good luck with cat litter👍

I use cat litter quite often to get rid of smells at work.
I agree though, if its cardboard, burn it. That's my solution for anything unwanted.
