After a smoke, dump the ash.Tap it either on the ball of your thumb or get a cork knocker.Take the pipe tool's spoon blade and gently remove any unburnt tobacco in the bottom (dottle). Then use a twisted paper towel or a clean clothe and wipe out the bowel. After it cools, take the stem out of the shank and run a pipe cleaner thru the shank into the bowel. Then a clean PC into the stem/bit.Reattach and your ready for your next smoke. I myself might smoke 2 or 3 bowels before I clean though. is it fine storing it in the plastic baggy for now? thx I would get it out of the plastic baggy...put it in an old cotton sock for protection.

It's a nice looking pipe indeed. I still dont understand the hiding it part though. Blows my mind.
Then again, my dad bought me cigarettes when I was 15 as long as I paid for them. He got tired of me stealing all of his.

sorry my autism took over again. i should probably using fidget spinners instead of tobacco pipes lol. Yes, I am of age to use tobacco. i FINALLY found a place to hide the damn thing I put it in a cloth so it could breath but I didn't have a sock for this use but I probably fucked the pipe up leaving it in that bag overnight. i fell asleep because of my internet addiction lol and forgot fudge my folks will INEVEITABBLY find out so i may as well post a picture. i can never have nice things i always fudge em up! oh well i'll try to be rich one day and can afford all the pipes i want lol ibb.co/cReE8oibb.co/dW65ETFirst of all I do use a Fidget spinner, but that's a whole different thread.Second,as a Dad and as your friend, clean up your language please.I don't think one night in a baggie hurt your pipe, just don't do that regularly. Now to the problem I have with your need to hide it. It's a hobby, albeit not a healthy one,but still a hobby. Do Not let a hobby cause problems with your folks. If they are Dead Set against any tobacco product, or you using them, you need to first get out on your own. It's been said in other threads,"My House,My Rules". Well until you are in your own place,it's Their House and Their Rules. We can offer advice to pipe smoking all day long, but if your having to hide in the bushes to smoke Carter Hall, it's wrong.

No the point is that respect of your parents rules are paramount while you live under their roof. They are not roommates by choice they raised you and deserve the respect for their rules in their home. When you have your own place then its your rules to follow as it will be your personal space. Most of the guys here have grown kids and possibly grandkids older than you are and a little respect for the rules of where you are goes a long way. Not trying to crack down just stating a simple fact as plainly as possible.

He showed NO respect towards Mathew, case closed!!!

As someone who isn't a regular contributor here but stops by regularly, I hope I can respectfully throw my two cents in on this.
I think maybe you guys are being a little hard on him. He's already said he's not forbidden to smoke while living at home, so he's not disrespecting anyone's rules... right? He's thinking it's just easier not to have the conversation. I know it's popular here to play the crotchety old guy who does what he wants, and screw everyone else (and I admit, in my early 40s I aspire to that and am getting pretty good at it ;-)) ; but look, we've all been there. Especially with close family. Every person here has opted not to have a particular conversation with close family at some point in their lives, be it political or otherwise. I'm not saying I'd consider that ideal, I'm just saying let's be honest here - we've ALL done it.
I think I get it. I started smoking an occasional pipe before I was of legal age. Even then, I doubt my parents would have forbidden it, but I DID keep it hidden. I continued to do so throughout my college years while living at home. Not because my parents would have forbidden it, not even because they would have tried to give me any guilt or grief about it at all (they would not), but because I felt self-conscious about it. Not in a crippling way, just a bit. I wasn't paranoid about hiding my pipes. It just seemed easier to keep them in a drawer and not smoke them around my folks.
Would I consider this ideal? No. Would I feel like that today? Of course not. But look, I was young. So is the OP, and if he was sincere about being on the spectrum, I can certainly say that it reminds me of a young man I know now, a very good guy who experiences anxiety about things you or I would not... And when that happens, the LEAST helpful thing is criticism.
OP, that's a nice looking pipe. I still need to get my first meer. It'll certainly be fine in the bag; you haven't messed it up any. I would not necessarily make a habit of smoking it and then putting it BACK in the bag, but goodness, one night? When I take a briar or cob on a trip, it always lives in a ziploc bag in my suitcase so my clothes don't end up smelling like smoke, and I clean it well when I get home, and no harm done. No need to get down on yourself. Enjoy!

I've found that a bit of respect to parents and to the members of this forum can go a long, long way.

nativepipesmoker, First of all, I don't appreciate the subtle or not so subtle antagonism in several of your posts. Show the people who are trying to help a little respect.
Second, keep the language respectful. Aside from the fact that there are ladies here, this isn't your basement where you hang out with a bunch of your friends and play video games. We expect a bit of decorum here, if you can't handle that, you may want to find another place to hang your hat.
Consider yourself warned.

Swearing has been creeping in by more than the OP lately. To my perspective it is the equivalent of Graffiti when used in a public forum and I do not like it.

Don't ever drop a meer on a concrete surface. It's an expensive education. Cobs are for outside, meers strictly indoors.
