Hi all, I'm looking for a blend that has INTENSE flavors as described in the subject. Preferably not cased, but if the blend is good, that's ok too. I realize perique can be this way naturally, but it can also be fairly peppery. I don't mind a little pepper, but not overwhelming. I'm somewhat averse to strong Latakia, but a little is ok - too much, and I get smoked BBQ ribs, which I don't like smoking. If anyone has a good recommendation, I'd most appreciate it!

Try MacBaren HH Old Dark Fired, either flake or rubbed. No lat, and tastes (too Me) like a filet mignon with a slightly charred surface. No perique either. But it is a little figgy along with the beef.

Have you tried the Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture ? Everyone’s palate picks up different tastes and aroma, I’ve picked up notes of raisins and plum in this blend. No toppings are added, just natural flavor. If moist let air dry for at least 30 minutes, you will be pleasantly surprised 👍

Mac Baren Acadian Perique. A new favorite of mine. I like this one too. I find it to be a lighter version of ODF.

There’s a wonderful blend, introduced to me by Lonecoyote, I’ve found to match the criteria you put forth rather well. Online description by others don’t seem to describe what I consider the in your face taste. Yes it has Latakia but with all the other flavors it becomes a condiment. There’s flavors of stewed fruit, sweet plum, and maybe some brown sugar. These combined with the background taste of a smoking campfire may provide you with what you’re looking for. The blend is Lane Limited Andullo. I think you’ll like it. AJ

If I don't like it, it's yours, free of charge. If I do like it, you're getting a tin as a "thank you" anyway

That Lane tobac looked interesting until I read "anise flavored" it sounded like it had good tobacs in it, why ruin it with a top flavor?

It’s a fermented tobacco with plenty of cigar leaf wrapped in Palm tree leaves and aged for 2 years before tinned. It’s without a doubt my favorite STG/ Lane Tobacco!

I, for one, love anice/licorice toppings - somehow makes for a terrific compliment to burleys and virginias when in carefully measured dose. Tonquin too, but that's my taste is all.

Somehow anise and vanilla just take over for me and overpower the tobac.

But for me, licorice is a slice of heavenly candy that I buy by the pound from Australia at least 4x a year. A natural liking for anise would make the difference all right. I don't care for it in in any form however. I love vanilla in various foods, but not in tobacco. To me, vanilla on tobacco is like maple syrup on pizza.
