My chrome window shut down on my phone so I had to open a new window to reconnect to the patch. I don't normally do this, but I googled 'pipe forum'...
Turns out the patch is second on the list.

Several of us were at a wonderful party that Justin gave in Philly - that's the only kind of party he knows how to give. Only a few of us were puffers, so we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Once in a while a cigar person (not just guys) would come over to what had become the de facto smoking section. Justin and several of us go back a long way with the old forums and message boards. In fact, Justin and just ol ed go back to before Justin moved from Buffalo to Philly.
We talked quite a bit about how forums have evolved, and several have gone extinct. TBP has taken its cue from the flaws of all the other present and extinct forums, and you can see the results.

DT - BTW, we also talked about the two pipe clubs (Morley's and Lehigh Valley) that we share, along with the several others I have had the pleasure of hanging with. We've also gone to some of the pipe shows, and it is remarkable in this day and age that the love of pipe and tobacco transcend all the usual points of friction. I've made a point of meeting up with forum friends when I visit different cities, and in every single case the paradigm has obtained. Not every meetup has led to lasting friendships, but most have. And never has the visit been anything but very agreeable. I look forward to seeing you at The Piedmont Tobacconist or Telford's when I next visit the kids in the Bay Area.

Aww, clam up!!!!
Here's AJ at work:
Jim, just send me a dozen tins of Rotary. Maybe then your nightmares about being pursued by a giant clam will cease. The fear of losing your treasure is becoming too burdensome for you. You don’t sleep at nights and you chain smoke, besides you don’t ever smoke any Rotary. Best you rid yourself of that demon tobacco Rotary and send it to me. I’ll smoke it on a regular basis and, out of the goodness of my heart, I let you know how much I like it. Giving me the tobacco will allow you, for once in your life, achieve something worthwhile. Jim, do yourself a favor, send me a dozen tins of Rotary today. Maybe you’ll feel better about yourself. AJ I feel better just knowing you're tortured by your lack of "Rotary" size. "Rotary envy" must be too hard for you to take.

That’s an invitation I definitely wouldn’t miss, even if I had to rent a car...😝😜😂😝😜😂 We ALL bring some type of food ( heck, I’d bring lobster tails ) and our pipes, I’m sure Jim has PLENTY of “ tobacco’s “ for ALL of us to sample...lol.

Martin, I’m living proof that personal meet ups work out well👍👍👍 Wether it’s 2 or 22 I believe we’d all have a great time! I think it could work well... The only difference is that in a group you have extroverts and introverts, and people who chat a lot and people who are less chatty. On a forum, that isn't an issue. people can contribute in a conversation without being cut off, or others dominating the conversion. Makes for a fairer chat. You may not get that in a group meeting. But you also lose something by not having that personal interaction. Tell you what, let's all head round to my new place in Lady Margaret 's woodshed and find out. it will give hubby an excuse to smoke a side of beef!

Hear, Hear!
Many of us have seen what works and what doesn’t at a few of the old forums, the parameters set forth on this forum are well thought out, and instill good conversation. The self policing and good moderation go a long way in keeping things civil.
