Why doesn't the notifications show on my computer or tablet when I sign in? I have to go to my profile to see if there are any.

It does on the mobile site. I noticed the same on the desktop version myself.

On the desktop site, you don't get a visual notification of quotes or tags etc, but on the mobile site you do. There's a number beside the word, 'profile'.
If you have a message, you get a number beside the word, 'message' on both desktop and mobile.
I guess it might have something to do with the fact that the word 'profile' isn't on the header on the desktop site.

It is possible. I'll give it a go and see if it shows.
Also keep in mind, there is a "Participated" button at the top. Any thread that you have participated in will show updates there, but not exactly notifications.

Also, just an FYI... if you click on the notification bubble itself and not the word "Profile" it will take you direct to the notifications page.

You can also customize the notifications you receive. Profile > Edit Profile > Notifications. There are some pretty powerful ways to customize your experience, so with a little trial and error you can really get things setup the way you want.
For example, if you want to only be notified about specific threads, you could Bookmark the thread.
Then enable notifications for threads you have bookmarked.

The issue never bothered me but it now works flawlessly on all mobile devices I own. I will customize to my preference👍
