I've had a few pipes with hand cut stems they have a certain look in the way they fit up, from what I can tell it accentuated the lines adds a fluid look to the profile.

A person more knowledgeable me about pipes told me that hand cut stems don't oxidize as badly as the formed ones...it was his opinion that the forming process is more gentle on the material...(for lack of a better way of quoting him).

That and I believe that most preform Vulcanite stems are made of inferior quality vulcanite. And many don't sand, shape and polish them to the extent that is needed leaving them looking like a preform stem.

I suppose like most things hand made, there's generally a higher degree of quality.

Thanks guys, definitely appreciate the 2 cents. Attention to detail is one thing that spans the entirety of pipe making in the way that its one of the few things that is consistent with old ideals of quality. Always made with purpose in mind and heavy tact of design.

Peter’s style of pipes scratch my itch also, and appeal to the kind of Briar that I really like.
Fish hasn’t been on here long enough to post many of his pipes, but having seen many posts elsewhere, he has quite a magnificent collection.
I am planning a heist on 10 Furlong’s GBD’s, don’t tell anyone though.

Put Peter’s and Banjo’s Pipes together and you’d most likely have enough to open a pipe museum 👍. The both own some stunning pipes!

Oh my... Well at least you are not smoking handcut stems. I grew a bit worried when I saw the title.
