I could grab my micrometer and take apart some pipes and measure some stems get the answer but basically I'm lazy and don't wanna.LOL. The question is are all stems the same diameter where they fit into the pipe? I need a new stem for my GBD and I don't wanna look like a butthole when I call this guy to order it.

I have many pipes, they have different size tenons and mortise. Also different diameters and shapes of stems as well.

I used a GBD stem as a replacement for a Butz Choquin Calabash, but I wouldn't bet on it happening again. I have 3 or 4 GBD spare stems that are all different.

Slowroll....Steve....would make you a new stem. Or Ron Powell once he gets back home. I make stems for myself now, use to make for others. Hopefully I can in the near future 👍

Whom ever is doing the stem replacement will need the pipe and it would be nice to send along the stem also so they know what it should look like. Sometimes if the tenon is just snapped off one can just replace the tenon and save the original stem. But, if not a whole new stem will need to be cut and fitted. I use to do repairs and restorations on pipes, no longer, there just too much of a PITA. Most the time it's easier to make a pipe then repair one.

I've done a lot of stems, and even the ones from the same mfr. on the same style of Pipe can be a couple thou different, which definitely won't fit. Even a half thou will make a difference. Have to match the pipe and stem.
