If you search "Pipe Forums" or "Pipe Forum" in Google, The Briar Patch comes up in the search results #3 and #2 respectively.
I would say we have come a long way from 2 1/2 years ago, when we didn't even show up on the first page.

IMHO it's not any "One" thing, but a combination of things.... Being a relatively new forum, TBP is glaringly absent of any "Old Guard" that somehow "Deems" themselves the "Be All & End All" of Pipedom. The other sites, including the one that Woody booted me from because he didn't like my avatar (yup, the same one I have here) were / are full of arrogant a$$e$ that value their opinion much higher than that of others, especially if the "others" don't have the thousands of posts that the old guard does. They're overly critical of others and often try to run em over or run em out. I appreciate the fact that Justin doesn't tolerate such behavior here. The other thing we've got going here is there seems to be a genuine spirit of camaraderie and a willingness to help the noobs, be they new to smoking a pipe or simply new to the forum. Lastly, it seems like TBP has attracted a good group of folks. I feel fortunate to have met close to a dozen of you all so far and definitely look forward to meeting many more. So, I lift my glass to you Sparks and say "Well Done. Well done indeed!" Dino |

Dino ^^^^^^^^^^^^ you know me for a while now, I’m not into BS, bickering or arguing....that does not go on here! It’s a different class/type of people who make this forum work so well. I’ve ONLY seen one minor issue which was resolved by the two members involved peacefully. One issue where Justin stepped in immediately and gave a new member a warning. When I asked for my membership to be closed from another forum I had good reason. Many of those members are here @the BriarPatch and it’s a much closer camaraderie, let’s make sure it stays that way👍👍👍

I think it's important to point out--and with no intent to be at the expense of others--the huge contributions that Jim has made to this forum. Between his activity and his spreading the word, many of our ranks are here as a result of him.
