My nephew just started Pre-K this year and immedietly we received a report from the teacher saying that he was eating paste. After a stern talking too he went back to school only to come back with a note from the teacher saying he was caught eating paper. Two days later it was play-doh. Finally my sister wised up and sent him to school today with chewing gum figuring thatll keep his mouth busy. I therefore pose the question; if you were three years old, which of the following would you rather eat?

Play-Doh can cause serious stomach issues, happened to my youngest granddaughter a few years ago.

I have eaten quite a bit of paper in my life. No problems that I know of,I've also eaten a few pencils, pink erasers, and loads of black crayons. Unfortunately, the teachers around here would make us spit out our gum, didn't want to hear a bunch of smacking.

Laura Smith, in first grade, was a notorious paste eater. Gross. I always think she might be attractive these days, but then the paste memories...

Salty Play-doh for me.
I have tried all 3. The consistency of paste wasn't for me. And it was slightly minty. I've ate my fair share of paper for sure.
Playdoh, although gross, was salty and was more appealing to me.

Uh,,,,,,,, I didn't know about the age limit. I was referring to ongoing dietary supplements. When I was three I ate Milk Bone dog treats. The little shaped ones.

Whatβs wrong with milk bone dog biscuits, I still eat one from time to time with my four legged friend here Lukeπ Only living β being β in this house that give me his undivided attention and time! The least I can do is enjoy a treat with himππ

Can't recall my kids ever eating anything weird. My son did come home with a note stating he bit the hell out of another child. A week later a note explaining a different lad tried to take a chunck out of my son's arm. The combination of the likely two strong reactions was enough apparently for him not to go full cannibal. I went with paper knowing if I chickened out I could have a wicked spit ball. On the serious side, if a child is actually ingesting things for a while I'd consider researching Pica that could be brought on from stress.

I picked play-doh because it smells better. I looked in to Pica but I guess we'll worry if he starts licking metal and eating dirt. I think its a phase but we'll see if he starts barking and eating dog food in front of cashiers. We don't want him branded for life like the notorious Laura Smith.

Man if we were caught with gum in school the NUNS would NEVER be finished with us. It was a death sentence!
I think this simply lead to more glue-eating behaviour!

Luckily for me they didn't have Play Doh when I was 3. I didn't like the taste of paste. I chewed on vinyl strips and leather mostly. I was told that chewing gum would clog up my stomach and had nightmares about that.

First off when I was a child of that age more then 50% of the kids ate paste, paper and Play-Doh and for god's sake some ate boogers too (I was not one of those)it's normal as I see it and NON-toxic. I was a eraser and lead sinker chewer and I'm not dead. Never heard of a teacher complaining to a parent about it either, that's just nonsense, if they don't like it, confront the student and tell them no. As far a Bubble Gum, that's a BAD idea for a child of that age, choking or getting it on clothes, hair (theirs or someone else's) or dragging it in on their shoes, ya know they don't keep it in their mouth, none of this is fun. Oh! and while we're on the subject of eating what is not meant to be eaten, who in the HELL eats paint? That's gotta be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of and I use to eat some crazy stuff in my time.........remember sour grass? Mom use to tell me what if a dog peeped on it? Didn't even slow me down and I was never scolded for eating anything, of course I didn't have a tattle tale teacher that didn't see fit to do there job either.

Nephew got gum stuck in his sweater today. So yeah, maybe papalo leaves?
