New gift in the post this morning I am pleased to say, Holger Danske , Original Tobacco , pipe mixture & Solani White & Black. I feel like Robinson Crusoe on my desert island at times, getting cargo cult in the flotsam & jetsam on the golden sandy bare beach , this bright June Saturday morning by the Irish Sea.

The Holger Danske original traditional is to my taste an honest plain real pipe tobacco, whether for sailors at sea or labourers in field or factory, an on your feet blend , for when you are out and about, whether walking the dog or at work or play, I prefer my hardwood folk pipes when on walkabout, it has pride of place in my black leather carrying pouch. The Solani White &. Black is a fine blend it is going in my mixing jars for my bachelor smoking den Briar cell , with my varied sipping spirits, I favour my various blends in my modest collection of Briars at home alone, with my virtual mates, in my chair.

Stan I love the pipe...very classy! Thanks Mike it is a long pear Cossack pipe, to which I added an extension stem and a church warden mouthpiece , it is a good sitting pipe , with a cool dry smoke & a narrow mouthpiece allowing tiny puffs at ones leisure. As regards dry cool smokes I am following this tip from " Larryson Pipes" an American pipe maker working in Cornwall. www.larryssonpipes.com/news.php. It involves using small steel screens and tiny charcoal granules, I have the materials but not experimented with it yet. PS Larryson makes some fine pipes, I discovered him from one of our members tips, thanks...
