I know, it's probably bad form to write a review after only one bowl. But, in this case, I've been chomping at the bit to smoke and review this tobacco.
A very generous soul from this forum saw a post I made awhile back, and sent me some to try. (Love this place!)
I cut the long leathery strands as finely as I could with my chef's knife (basically cube cut), and set it out to dry for about an hour. I packed the bowl somewhat firmly, which resulted in medium resistance upon puffing.
It lit up right away, with almost no need for a tamp. There was hardly any bloom at all. The first flavor I was met with was charred beef, and a little bit of rubber. It was very reminiscent of a brand of Argentinian cigarettes I smoked years ago, that was so strong it hurt my teeth when inhaled. I puffed a bit too quickly at first, and found myself with some 'baccy hiccups, along with angry nasal passages when snorked. I slowed my cadence, and proceeded on. Further in, the flavor changed to a very dark Maduro, with strong leather, a hint of diesel, and even something bitter, almost like straight citrus oil, without the perfume.
It smoked VERY well, down to the bottom. I only had one relight. There was NO bite whatsoever. Tambolaka is very strong in flavor with medium nicotine. I was very surprised, as it was nothing like I'd imagined. It was far more palatable than I thought it would be. That said, it is certainly not an all day smoke.
I will definitely finish the sample that I have, but it will take me awhile. If you can get your hands on some, it's worth a try.
Tambolaka: Friend with a sharp tendency towards sarcasm.

I’ve smoked a few bowls in Cobs a few years back. I too was met with a more burnt leathery beef taste. Was able to make a lot of smoke with absolutely no bite!! It was quite different, slightly above a medium NIC hit for me. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase any more, those few bowls were memorable enough!
I’m still dealing with this “ knock out mystery “ tobacco that was sent to me, it’s prepared and jarred for another bowl next year! That was the first pipe tobacco to ever knock me on my keister!!! I’m thinking it also might have something to do with the other 15 Meds I’m taking now on a daily basis!!!!
Very good review, well described and you basically hit it head on👍👍

I wanna try it but hell I wanna try every thing. I thought your review was well thought out and well written and for those reasons I will search out a sample.

I noticed in WAYS, that you chose a small pipe. I thought that was wise.

Great review; thanks! I've been wanting to try this one, but the burnt rubber and diesel notes don't thrill me. Dark maduro on the other hand sounds very good.

It's not burnt rubber, more like inner tube that's been in the sun. And neither the rubber or diesel is overwhelming. Just makes it interesting.

Interesting blend and great review. I'm not sure I'd be friends with this one.
