Welcome from the Mile High City! Glad to have you with us. The corn cob pipe wasn't the problem. Puff gently and slowly when you light your pipe and from then on. English (aka, Latakia) tobaccos are easy on the tongue. Try Balkan Supreme or Dunhill 965 and remember to puff slowly. It will taste better and won't scorch your tongue (been there and done that).
