I was fortunate to work with Ray Martins brother at Exxon. Jake Martin worked on the farm, went to LSU, played football and was a member of the famed CHINESE BANDITS. He went on to NASA as a rocket engineer, when they downsized in the 80s Jake went back to school and graduated in Chemical Engineering. When he came to our plant I knew he was Cajun and greeted him with some Cajun trash talk, his eyes lit up and we were friends forever, as time went on he would tell me about life on the Perique farm, rolling some up and smoking them as little cigars, and then getting sick as a dog. HaHa. He said that Yankees saved the farms with their participation in marketing their crops and preserving a way of life.

I really wish that Louisiana retained it's French language the way that Quebec and Montreal retained theirs. I love old culture and history like that. It's down to like three percent in LA now.

It's OK, they developed a language of their own. Ever ask for directions in NO?
