Did a little refurb work on the pipe that I got which belonged to William Scholl (Dr. Scholl).........stripped off the lacquer, kept the natural finish. Cleaned up the top and the stem, and gave it a slight bend. Top Before: Top After: Pipe and Stem Before: Pipe and Stem After: Pipe as Received: Finished Product:

Roy, excellent restoration and I like the way the stem has a bend now. Iβm sure you got rid of β the foot odor β....you knew that would be coming eventually....lol. Enjoy for many happy & healthy yearsπππππ

Nice job on the cleanup. The pipe looks better without that stain. Personally, I would have kept it straight, but you weren't cleaning it up for me. π

Enjoy for many happy & healthy yearsπππππ Ted, Not sure that I got rid of the 'foot odor'. I smoked a couple bowls today. Tobacco had a bitter note to it. I may have to give it a salt and alcohol treatment. I hope there wasn't a stray foot pad stuck in there!

Roy ^^^^^^^^^^ sounds like the pipe need a full retort. Could be, but I don't have a retort. Stuff the chamber with kosher salt and a strong alcohol you have handy. You might have to do it twice, it worked for me recently on an Olde London pipe made back in the early 30βs. Itβs an excellent smoker and well worth the time and effortππ. Good luck!!!

I like that pipe. What particularly impresses me about the manufacture is the sharp transition from the bowl to stem all around. Takes good tooling and finesse.
BTW. Retort: test tube, cork with a hole in it, piece of aluminum tubing or brake line, piece of latex tubing, and a 90deg. bent piece of flat aluminum with a hole in it to catch the rim of the test tube, and a vertical piece of wood to hold the test tube in its bracket above a flat candle.

All shiny, it looked period, but with the matte finish and moderately bent stem, it looks more modern.

Perhaps Dr. Scholl had good taste in pipes.I can't find much info on this brand. (Left side:FRABENVER Right Side:Benzon-Italia)

Far better without the lacquer...and now there's some better contrast in the grain. Well done.
