I voted for 965, but I like both. These negative views of Royal Yacht are interesting. Tastes great to me, and certainly not like tires or some of the more "colorful" descriptions. YMMV, LL.

I am thinking that RY would be called RGS.... Royal Garbage Scow.
If you like that stuff, you need counseling.

If you like that stuff, you need counseling. Probably, but not in regard to RY!

I don't want to influence your impressions, but will go so far as to recommend that after your first or few bowls fresh from the tin that you jar the rest for at least 3-6 months. Rub out some and pack medium tight for a cooler burn and gentler mouthfeel. Enjoy the adventure!

Bridgestone leaf with a topping of Firestone. Seriously, I tried liking it, but to me it tasted like I was smoking tires.... But it is Steve Fallon’s go to blend, and he has pretty good taste....so take my ramblings at face value.

At first RY (years ago) was a bit strong as I usually inhale about every third puff. Now I really like it it. For some it may be an acquired taste but I’ve always enjoyed its uniqueness.

As far as Royal Yacht goes, I've smoked it almost exclusively for 20 years now and it only gets better the more I smoke it! It's one of Dunhill's three original tinned blends, coming out in 1912, loringpage.com/pipearticles/duntob1.htm , and is one of the finest ALL Va blends made. I'll be sorry to see it go away this year.

Interesting link. Thanks for sharing. It said baby's bottom wasn't offered after 1970s, but it's in stock at the minute...hmmm

Well, it came in the post this morning. Certainly smells different. I might even be picking up the scent of rubber...
Can't wait to try this.
