We recently had a death in our family, whereby members of the family will need to travel from Pennsylvania to Michigan by automobile. The airlines have drastically reduced their discounts for bereavement, which makes the cost unbearable for several persons. Totally disgusting where a family has to sacrifice life and limb on the highways, while airlines such as United will give free transportation to illegal aliens!  |

Unless you had a birth certificate in hand and say your father’s death certificate, it would be hard to issue bereavement fares for everyone that requested them. Extended family members with different last names, would be hard to prove... forged death certificates are easy to conceal in a fax... it would be a nightmare for an airline to do, with the added staff required to police it all.... and if you accidentally deny someone, your airline will be featured on eyewitness news with a distraught family crying. I understand it don’t really like it. Sometimes we all pay for the sins of a few. |

Within the past year, two families have been killed on the road by (Sorry to say!) truck drivers who just slammed into them because they didn't know enough to slow down! |

I thought those discounts went away the smoking section and dressing up for flights. A family road trip is a great time. A few beers, cigars and the airing of family grievance will make the trip fly by.  |

Roy, I'm sorry for your loss. Thoughts to you and your family in this difficult time. That being said, it is not appropriate to drop incendiary political comments into a post, regardless of how upset someone may be. We have a very clear rule... "No Politics", and discussion of illegal aliens clearly crosses that line. Let's think before we post guys. This thread went down a path that was the complete opposite of what it should have been. Either right the ship or I'll close it.

Since AA seems to have a budget for free seats, It would be nice if American Airlines would fly military families for free..plenty of times we have heard of people flying in first class insist that our warriors sit in their seats and trade places....fat chance that the airline would be as noble as some passengers.
