So, I just left my local B&M. I bought a tin of OGS, for B&M price. As I was perusing, I saw a huge old bag with a big torn up Avery label that said Nate's, Mild Burley, marked down to $1.00/oz. I looked at it and this stuff is DARK. It has a sweet topping, and a slight vinegar scent. I asked the guy what the heck it was, and how old it is. He said Nate was one of their regulars, but he hasn't been around in quite some time. He had no idea how old it the tobacco was. He guessed it'd been sitting around between 7-10 years. So, I bought 5oz. If it's good, I'll be back for more.

A dark well aged Burley should smoke cool with no bite. If you pick up that molasses/ nuttiness in the bulk you purchased @ $1.00 an ounce I’d go back and purchase what he has left in stock. Hope it’s one of those Burley tobacco’s that leaves you with that feeling...” I want another bowl right after I’m done with my first bowl “!!!

The verdict: it's good. Sweet molasses/brown sugar, and nutty. It's got a little dark fruit to it too, so I'll assume there's some Virginia mixed in. A little stronger than Carter Hall, but more complex, probably due to the age. The cut is rough - big pieces and small. I'll probably go back and buy the rest. Even though I have no idea what it is, I DO know there's no more of it, and that makes it special.

Lucky break. Last year I found a half pound of CBK in a cigar store in New Mexico that had been in the humidor for 5 years. I had left home with no tobacco so I needed it. As the owner had no hope of selling it, I got the 15oz for $17. It is excellent.

For a $1.00 an ounce you can’t go wrong....especially if your really enjoying it👍👍👍

hmm, I may have been misunderstood... I had in mind any other time one would see something that's years old and nobody knew what it was... Sampling it might be detrimental to your health. In your case, Cramptholomew, you've had a happy ending.

Been sitting in the back of the walk-in humidor since "Nate" stopped coming in. Now I have a massive amount of it. Anyone want a sample?

It is a very satisfactory blend on its own and also a VG blender.
