Remnants, tailings, the dregs, or what ever y'all call them, you know it's the jar you put all the little sweepings left over from when you load your pipe. I just weighed my jar of lasties and the trailings tobacco weights 6.8oz so I think I'm gonna press some when I get back and I will call it GODs blend.

Early on in smoking I tried doing that with all the varieties of baccy I was trying then. It ended up being the biggest cluster f**k I ever did. Won't do it again !!  |

Actually I do have a will just so my wife won't sell my weapons for what I told her I paid for them rather what I really paid. Selling off my guns will make me spin in my grave but her getting ripped off would make me come back from the dead. |

When I am near a blends end, when the pipe goes out at mid bowl, I off load and add the remaining 'tailings'then reload the temporarily removed tobacco and finish it off.

Yes, it does work for me and I get to smoke all the tobacco I paid for. I have tried the leavings jar and more often than not, the results are sub-par.

Pistol Pete 1911 that's a brilliant idea. I smoke them but those small broken bits are either all gunk or burn too quickly to enjoy.

...aside from "amping up" some blends with a bit of Latakia, I have had very little success with my own "leftovers"...

Most of the time when I dry too much I just put the left overs in a cob. Then I dry a little more to fill the cob.
Once in a while, especially if I'm in the shed working, I do the same as @truculentfrogs because my tobacco is out there with me.

I have five or six jars of miscellaneous mixings. A couple are mystery blends and a few are English Orphans or Burley Bastards.

I’ve used “leftovers” mixed together many times and have had some really fine smokes come from these efforts. I’ve also had a few that were disgusting. Keep at it. You’ll soon learn what blends compliment each other.

AJ When I have enough to transfer to the jar I get out the big silver bowl and mix it all up again after the new remnants are added, I call it Gods blend (borrowed name) because only god knows whats in it. |

Jack I use the same mixing method. Sometimes I will add newly opened blends to adjust the taste and I’ve been known to open a blend or two in order to make an adjustment.
