For those of you who have tried it, what are your thoughts? Do you think it compares favorably to the original?

I never had the original, but I tried a pouch of this last month and it was...ok. It didn't jump out at me as a fantastic blend, but it wasn't bad either. I wouldn't turn it down, but I am not excited to make room in my cellar for it or anything. The original may have been better, but like I said, never had it. Cheers!

… I have some of the "Original" in both regular and full aroma...the new versions compare pretty close to the originals...

Amphora Original Brown was one of the 3 OTC blends I smoked from the late 60’s on. I have plenty of the Amphora Original jarred since 2013. What works best is remove all the tobacco from the pouch and mix well in a bowl. Cut up the rough ribbon cut tobacco with a sharp knife or a pair of scissors. Mix well and jar. Smokes best with a minimum of 6 months of aging, after 3 years of aging this blend brings back fond memories 👍👍. For me it’s a Great Match to the Original, I highly recommend giving a pouch a try!!

I never had the pleasure of trying the original original. I do like the original though. It would be a trusted smoke for me - one that you know would stay constant despite other external conditions, if you know what I mean.

It is okay, but I can definitely live without it. The Virginia Blend is another story and I reordered that without hesitation.

I have never had the "old" Amphora Original and if it wasnt for the BoM, I wouldnt have tried the newer version. I'm glad I did. I blame it for being the tobacco that broke me of my constant rotation of lat heavy englishes. |
