That looks like it would be one smooth smooth smoker. The only problem with it is the bowl size.

Is it a Calabash style pipe or a Calabash with a removable bowl?

Calabash style. They have smaller bowls too. If it was a removable bowl (gourd type) I would have picked one up.

I purchased this one today on eBay, $28.00 delivered. It’s rosewood and a porcelain bowl.

I seen that. It's a beauty! And at that price, it's even better.

Great price but, yeah - not really for me either.

Great price but, yeah - not really for me either. You just need to don a Deerstalker hat and get a Calabash....when the wife says anything that is obvious, gaze her way with steely eyes and reply "Clevah deduction Watson"... I moonlight as a marital counselor, but this tip is free Chico.

I got a nice Walnut one with a Meerschaum bowl unsmoked in a local classified for $20...great smoker, but I often forget about it and it doesn't get smoked as much as it should.
Our local B&M just got in some Payoc Calabash Meers with Gourd...but they are $150.00.... a fair price for a B&M that has to pay the rent, but it is hard to pull the trigger when there are such great deals to be had...if it is still sitting there in a month or so, maybe I will go for it....I still spend plenty there, so it isn't like I am freeloading.

Charlie ^^^^^^^^ I’m sure you spend plenty at your local B&M, that does not mean you should pay $150.00 on a pipe you won’t smoke much!! Keep supporting your B&M but let someone else buy that Calabash pipe👍👍

Thanks for the heads up - I'm not sure I'm a fan of the calabash...that said, if one was at the right price, I would consider it.

The first time you smoke out of a “real “ Calabash pipe you’ll understand why pipe smokers enjoy them!! It’s a pipe you need to sit down on a chair with comfortable arms, sit back, relax and enjoy the experience 👍👍

I have a soft spot for Calabashes; the real thing, the gourds, of which I have two Orliks, an Andreas Bauer, a Strambach and three no-names. I can't resist whenever I see one, I can afford. Real armchair pipes, they are; go well with Latakia mixtures and a good book.

Yup, I really enjoyed my Gourd Calabash pipe until some “ SNOOP “ picked it up from its stand in my bedroom and dropped it. Maybe one day if I spot a reasonably priced Gourd Calabash I’ll get another. Right now $150.00 plus is a bit pricy for me!

A "real" one is on my list of must haves. Along with an Oom Paul.
I havent been on the hunt for either one of them, but I figure one day one will jump out at me.

I own 15 plus Oom Paul pipes, all are great to exceptional smokers. Reason why I said 15 plus is because I still have a few packed away. Very comfortable to clench an Oom Paul pipe for a long period of time. Some can be considered chin rests. My beard is getting so long mine rests in my beard. This time I’ll be letting my beard grow down to my knees!!

Haha, I noticed the other day that my Peterson B10 sits on my beard pretty well if it's just dangling. I'd imagine an Oom Paul would do better. I found a Savinelli the other day but I talked myself out of it. I'm not currently pope shopping.

I give up changing my auto corrects.
For further reference, pope = pipe. A ton of tobacco = a tin.
What's the going rate to buy a pope these days?
(This time when I typed "pope" autocorrect changed it to "pipe.")

I guess it's not a real calabash, but I'm still jonesing for a Stanwell HCA calabash shape. Getting the cutty just made me want one more, since it became one of my favorite pipes after just a couple of smokes.

If I’m going to smoke a Calabash it will be the real thing, with the removable bowl. Not the Calabash style pipes that are on the market today.

I have that same pipe. Bought it via Amazon and my review should still be on there, if it is still being sold.

It's an odd-looking pipe, IMHO. Not quite calabash shape really. Reviews say it's much smaller than it appears - like a mini pocket pipe. I like silver mount on the rusticated one, but am not a fan of that rustication style. If the smooth were designed like the rustic I'd probably buy one. www.tobaccopipes.com/peterson-calabash/

Their using the term Calabash, rather loosely here, imo.
