Here's the first casualty I've seen of the new FDA regulations: Russ Oulette's monthly blends over at pipesandcigars. Just got an email from them saying, while they were really popular, due to the new regs Russ' monthly blends will be ending soon. There's the first twenty five blends the government just de facto banned. I got that yesterday as well. The FDA and bean counters are the bane of the pipe tobacco world.

LoL! Wasn't Russ the guy who was on all the boards saying don't panic yet, things will change, nothing is set in stone. I'd guess this is an excuse to end a program without pissing off the handful of guys who like their monthly shipment of all time favorites  Apple Fritter, Candy Corn, Cinnamon Roll or the classic Ice Cream Sundae ??tobacco??.  |

It seems pretty clear that P&C is accepting the new deeming date and they do not intend to challenge it. So, since new blends can't be sold after Feb. 7, 2018 the accountants are looking at depleting stocks before they get stuck with them. It is, after all, a business. I have to wonder ho many of the 60 million cigars they have in stock fall under the same ruling.

I expect a bunch of cigars and pipe blends to be on sale this month. Did you see in Charlie's post where yes, folks who blend existing bulk tobaccos are also included in the regulations?
So if my local B&M continues making blends for customers, he's now a criminal, and subject to fines at the point of a gun. Unless he pays up of course.

Appears to be more of a sales pitch than FDA mandate. Create a crisis, get rid of old stock, reload for the future with new and move on. It's a proven blueprint to profit and stay in business in retail.

According to Russ O , CI's corporate council advised them to stop production in house by Aug 8,2016. This is the great inventory drawdown that we'll be seeing over the next 12-18 months.

I have not looked into this bad business , I hope it is not as bad as it seems , but I hope it does not head to the UK, what is the bottom line of this legislation to the ordinary pipe smoker & cigar smoker and vaper ? It sounds like more cost with less choice. I hope Brexit means better trade deals for tobacco products between the UK & USA. We need to make a noise folks .
