I've noticed that my local online retailer has the Dagner Poker in stock. I might have to bite the bullet on this one. I don't need another pipe, and they are priced a bit higher than the other cobs because of the name (I'm assuming), but it's a way for me to have a poker without forking out loads.
They also have a handful of the reverse calabash in stock too (at £75 each). I think they're ripping the arse out of that one considering they were around $50 in the USA.

Paddy, I own 3 Dagner Design Cob Poker Pipes.....they are in a different ballpark then the MM Legend and cheaper MM pipes. Not only the design, but the way the Cob was cured and polished👍 All 3 are outstanding smokers. Here in the States the price varies from $23.00 to $28.00. How much is your local retailer asking for the Dagner Design Cob? If you can swing it, I highly recommend you get yourself one👌👍

I'll sacrifice some tobacco at birthday time and substitute it for the poker, methinks.

I too have a Dagner Poker Cob.
And although I enjoy it, all in all I am not that big of a fan of shorter shank/stem pipes. Puts the bowl too close to my face and inadvertently I get more smoke in my eyes. Being a long time allergy sufferer, I do better with longer pipes.
Just my $0.02.

I've narrowed it down to this for my birthday... Dagner Cob Ilsteads Own 55 (100g) Kholhase & Kopp (100g) I'm taking a punt here, but hey - there's no tobacco that I don't enjoy so I'm sure I'll be ok.

I might have the same experience, but I don't have any shorter pipes and thought I'd give this a go.

The customer service @ Dagner Pipes is Outstanding! I've never had abad experience with Jason or his girlfriend when ordering from them. The pipe is short and a bit heavy, thereby not a great clencher. But it is a very nice smoker.

Dino Good morning Dino, Everyone has their likes and dislikes, I definitely see your point if you suffer from allergies, a longer shank pipe would be best for you. I own and enjoy smoking nosewarmer pipes, so if your a pipe smoker that does not enjoy a good nosewarmer Dino brought up a very point of view.....you most likely will not enjoy smoking the MM Dagner Design Cob Poker Pipe.

I see all three of you fellas point. Iona degner Cobb I was the first one in Northwest Arkansas to get one and if anything happens to this I will Rush right back to the local bam and get another one. I am of the opinion Legend, that you need to pull the trigger on the degner cobb. I clench mine all the time and have no problems with it at all. Just my opinion

Just my opinion I remember dating an “ Iona “ back in high school....lol👍👍 I agree with Jack...I really enjoy all 3 of mine. One of them was sent to me as a gift from a friend back in NY. The other 2 were purchased on eBay....shipped to my door for $24.00 each. I fill the bottom with pipe mud made from cigar ash...hardens like cement. I also brush a thin layer of mud on the inside chamber walls...builds up an even cake much faster. Plus no damage to the chamber wall👍
