I've been searching and just seem to be getting more confused. What I would really like to find is a tobacco that really comes through with a vanilla flavor. Cherry would be my second choice for starters. If it matters, I will probably be smoking it in an inexpensive cob pipe, once I find one of those I like...doh. Any suggestions are welcome.
I am also curious how far an ounce of pipe tobacco goes. I see some are sold by the ounce and want to make sure I don't end up buying a truckload. TIA

Most cherry flavored tobacco puts me off, but the list of vanilla flavored is too long to list. Depending on the pipe, I get about 10 to 12 bowls per ounce.

I agree with Ronv69 - cherry is hard to do well, but vanilla seems to take to tobacco like a duck to water. A good combination of the two, though, is Lane Dark Red.

Cult Blood Moon for cherry flavor. For THE PERFECT vanilla, the search continues...and it's a blast!

Advice on Cherry: Don't get Cherry Brandy flavored. Unless it's Vanilla I would be hinky about any addition to the blends. As to fruit blends, Burley forward works best, which is just my opinion. Black Cavendish may be mild, but the the fruit seems to wear out and then the Cav does. I have just not had a lot of luck with that, unless there is Burley added in some form.

Cult, Blood Red Moon is the best Cherry I've had, but it can get a bit sickly after a while.
For vanilla, I think the jury's out on that one, but for starting off, perhaps Lane 1Q might be a good one - it's a tried and tested blend and might suit you as someone starting in the hobby.

I have no experience with cherry flavored tobacco, but for vanilla I recommend Lane 1-Q and BCA. If you want to give them a little kick, mix in some Five Brothers.

totally off topic but does anyone know where I can buy some exotic orange? Get yourself on every online tobacco retailers website you do business with and have them notify you by email when it’s back in stock. Less then two weeks ago it was back on the shelf at 3 online retailers, in less then 3 hours ALL was sold out. Set up your cell phone for notifications as well for texts where available.

Sounds like Exotic Orange is the Blood Red Moon of Orange flavoured tobaccos.

For vanilla with a caramel twist, LL-7 is great stuff.

1-Q seems to be a pretty good aro. I smoked it pretty exclusively until I met AJ. Then I was exposed to the world of other truly great tobaccos.

I like vanilla much more than cherry and there are many vanilla blends out there. My advice.. try as many as you want..if you don't care for a blend, put it in a jar, the next one that you don't care for of just seems to be missing something put in the same jar..after adding several blends to the jar.. mix it well and then try that..it works great for me..

I find if you jar up one you dont like much and wait a few months it gets better. Also your tastes will change over time.

The jar of vanilla is an always changing and evolving blend. I did the same with my cherry blends but had to add some straight burley to reduce the candy like flavor of the tobacco. I also added some sutliff chocolate to give if more depth.

I have made the mistake of thinking to add more black cav to aros, thinking that more of what they already have will cut it and expand. crapgame is right, though. On my Crapgame Vanilla (done the way he does) and on my Rooty Tooty Fresh and Frooty blend I add Burley, almost fifty percent in some cases. I can say no more
