Anyone here at the Patch belong to Cigar Rights of America (CRA)? I’ve been a member since the beginning! IMO Glenn is an effective insider in the halls of Congress.

I’ve been a member since the beginning! IMO Glenn is an effective insider in the halls of Congress. That's great, Dave! 👍 I've been on CRA's mailing list and supported their political action initiatives for several years. They've been having a membership drive, so I officially joined. Hopefully, their efforts to address FDA overreach with respect to premium cigars will have a positive effect on premium pipe tobacco as well.

"respect to premium cigars will have a positive effect on premium pipe tobacco as well."
Not likely, legislators only look out for their personal interests...don't think that many of them smoke pipes. So...we are still screwed. But, positive thoughts never hurt anyone.

I understand your pessimism, Walt, but I don't believe these are just positive thoughts. Doing nothing will definitely solve nothing. Saving premium cigars is worth supporting in and of itself. The new regulations on cigars are basically the same as those on pipe tobacco. If rollback is successful, it's not a big leap to apply the same argument to pipe tobacco that's been made for cigars.
