Got a call from my Son in Dayton, pissed off ain’t the word. He brought a damaged scope to UPS to be fixed at facility where he bought it. Clerk said what’s that, he said Gun Scope. Reply, sorry we can’t ship it. Should have said Astronomer Scope I guess. He told me one of his friends was denied shipping for a rifle stock. Didn’t know that was the case, what’s wrong with these businesses doing too good money wise. How do they ship gun purchases? I am wondering.

I guess with gun parts just pack well and say “ nothing “....it’s not perishable, not flammable, not perfume of batteries when asked.....so technically your not lying. Just NEVER send a firearm in the mail without going through your local gun shop. It’s a Federal offense, you will spend your vacation in a Federal pen!! Not worth the risk.

Never say the word gun regardless of the rest of the statement. Just the word gun regardless of what follows will get it rejected. Why? Cause the are stupid. As Ted said, NEVER send a firearm through the mail. They get real pissy about it.

New Federal USPS regulation: if any amount of tobacco is shipped using USPS, it must be shipped Express Mail only. The minimum cost is $24.99, an adults signature is required upon receipt. So now that you know....it’s up to you!!

I assume this only applies to individuals. Smoking Pipes and Tobacco Pipes and Mars all use USPS priority mail. About 8 bucks and no signature required.

Our biggest issue is wit Walmart. They (like another company) use weak boxes and put stuffing at the top and let the bottom stuff ride free. FedEx is actually worse than UPS. USPS is about the best. UPS has screwed us up only a few times. Still, much blame is on the company. I ordered a case of soda that twelve of the sodas fell out of and ran naked through the rest of the box doing damage to all the onlookers. I can say no more

New Federal USPS regulation: if any amount of tobacco is shipped using USPS, it must be shipped Express Mail only. Citation, please. I would like to read up on this one. Thank you. Last week when I stopped at the local PO, of course the young lady behind the counter asked ALL the normal questions. I was mailing a large envelope of tobacco to a member, I replied “ a sample of tobacco “. Her response “ I believe new regulations are now in effect for shipping tobacco “. She spoke to the Post Master and explained “ tobacco of any amount can only be shipped by Express Mail “. Once she told me the cost was $24.99 I said no thanks. So, don’t mention tobacco at all. I shipped it another way👍👍

About 8 bucks and no signature required. That’s correct, she explained retailers can still ship tobacco by Priority Mail with signature required. Most just ship without signature required anyway.

I always get the "aerosol, flammable or explosive items, batteries or perishables?" And that's it with USPS. But I always walk in with my box, or envelope, ready to go.
UPS is a joke. In the last 2 years that I used them I had more damaged or late packages than I have had in all of my USPS packages combined.

"Bibles" was the classic dodge for shipping questionable merchandise. Sharps rifles were shipped to the Reverand Beecher in Kansas in crates so marked. Hence, their being called "Beecher's Bibles" during the war. I often use "Machine Parts".

Firearms sold for retail will have serial numbers on shipping. Company who shipped is clearly marked. You must have a strict chain of custody as firearm is put into inventory. Your job is not done until some peckerwood manager locks it up. Shipping firearms is done in reverse and the firearm is not suppose to leave your range of vision until UPS or FEDEX picks it up.

If I'm posting anything pipe or tobacco related, I'll say it's dried herbs and a piece of carved wood. Sorry to hear your son had that experience oldcajun123.

When asked the standard questions about what I ship via the USPS I always answer the flammable substance question, "Not yet." I never had a problem. Probably keeping the answers as generic as possible is the safe way to go.
And if you think shipping tobacco is a pain try opening a company bank account with the word "Tobacco" in the name of your business. I went to 4 banks before one would accept our accounts.

Yep... I work in the freight industry, and it is a common classification for firearms manufacturers to list on the Bill Of lading as "Machined Parts." It allows firearms to be shipped discreetly, and minimizes the security loss risk. Yeah, it's called punishing the sinners... There is a concerted effort to demonize and refuse to do any business with anything related to firearms or pro-2nd amendment rights, and a lot of CEO's are buying into it...from airlines to credit card companies. www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-companies-gun-control-20201027-story.html

Next time you visit your local PO just ask “ what’s the procedure now for mailing tobacco products within the U.S. “, a lot easier then looking up the citation on this new regulation.

The only tobacco products legally restricted from mailing via USPS is Cigarettes and Smokeless Tobacco. Even then, there are exceptions for person to person shipping. Your mail girl is a moron. There is no new regulation related to non-commercial tobacco shipments.
