I've found that the pipe cleaners which I use are pretty crappy when it comes to cleaning the pipes. They seem to leave a lot of fuzz behind, which necessitates cleaning the pipe a second time just to get rid of the fuzz from the first cleaning. This is especially true when cleaning stinger pipes.
Have any of you had similar experience, and/or what brand of pipe cleaners do you find work best?

I like my B.J. Longs. The Mac Barens that SP has sent with my last few orders have left too much fuzz behind.

I went to B J Longs a while back, and I don't see myself switching anytime soon. I am very happy with them.

They are always in stock at any online retailer. Not difficult to find.

I was using the ones that have little metal bristles mixed in with the soft ones but I think those were damaging my briar.
So now I just stick to dills. When I need an extra oomph to clean my pipes I use rum with the cleaners.

...currently using some called "Zen" from Amazon. They are efficient, but difficult to hang on to because of the stiff bristles...

Jiminks uses chickenfeathers...kinda like how gun owners use a boresnake to clean the barrel. At the rate he smokes, what is a nominal cost to us for pipe cleaners, represents a major expense.
BJ longs works well for me, glad i bought a boatload when the pipeguys liquidated the business.

I haven't a clue which brand I use but I find them excellent. I must have a look when I get back from the North coast and find out.
There can an be a small bit of fluff left behind but I blow that out before reassembly.

B J Long for me. I order 50 packs at a time as I don't like to be without them. I clean a pipe with a bit of Crown Royal after every smoke. Love my pipes.

Get yourself some B J Longs smooth pipe cleaners for the stem and some bristle cleaners for the draft hole...you’ll be a happy man...no lint issues 👍. After each use I use a piece of paper towel and clean the chamber, another small piece rolled up to clean what’s inside the shank....it gets nasty in there!!

I just use cheap pipe cleaners from Zen I get off of Amazon real cheap. After use I get one or two small stray pieces of lint and with a light but quick blow, its gone.

I think that it was Ron that said he had seen bristle cleaners cause gouges in the Briar... since I heard that, I bought some nylon bristle pipe cleaners... with Everclear, they do a good job down in the cesspool of the pipe.

Also I haven't seen anyone point out that if you run the pipe cleaners through pinched fingers a couple times before running them through your pipe you can eliminate much of the loose fuzz on them.

I get these at my local BM and had not a bit of trouble out of them I’ve also used this brand when it was more readily available....never an issue with lint👍 I liked them because they’re a bit thicker with cotton then the B J Longs.

B J Long all the way. Usually pick up 100 packs on Amazon and buy the bristle or extra absorbent as needed at a B&M.

Longs are still made in Rochester, NY. (Tapers are made in Taiwan.)

I’ve found that all brands of cleaners suck in their own special way, so I just use whatever I can find for cheap. Currently that is bulk BJ Longs from Amazon.
