I was in New Jersey yesterday and stopped at Cigar World and bought some tins of tobaccos. One of which was Peterson irish oak which I have smoked before.I went home lit up a bowl and it was different. The tins i'm use to the description reads..A rich blend of Brazilian and African virginia leaf with cavendish and rare Louisiana perique. This new tin reads..A blend of virginia leaves from eastern Carolina, malawi and brazil is mixed with a dark brown cavendish tobacco. What the heck am I smoking??Also on the tin the word Irish isn't above Oak it's right next to it.Thanks for any help cause I kinda like this tobacco.

I have enjoyed the most recent version of Irish Oak for a few years now, but the prior version was a bit richer, smokier, and sweeter to my taste. Newer has a good Perique spice note. Both excellent but different.

I can't really help either, but I do like the new version too. Guess I’m to familiar with the older blends, I just can not get into enjoying the new release of Peterson University Flake.

It helps that I haven't sampled the older version.

I like Peterson Signature Flake. I think it's a great Virginia.

Tried a few of Peterson's blends a few years ago and was not really impressed. This past year though I was at a friends house and he was smoking a Peterson blend which I liked the aroma of and when he told me what it was and he gave me a bowl full to try I was hooked ! It's their Deluxe Mixture a lightly topped all Va aromatic. It's main sweetness is from the Va's with just an ever so light vanilla/maple ish aroma that stays through thru whole bowl. I'm not usually an Aro smoker but I've now gone thru 2 tins since that first bowl. I feel Peterson got this one right !

I'm quite a fan of Peterson blends. I find that I know what I'm getting with them, and I like what I get.

I'm quite a fan of Peterson blends. I find that I know what I'm getting with them, and I like what I get. Same here, I really like all of the non aro’s. I have some jarred 2015 summertime blend that I try from time to time, but it just doesn’t do it for me. I doubt that is the fault of the blend, more likely my preferences.
